When you focus on lack and scarcity

Dawn I know ur a bbuilder at heart but does the new womens physique interest you at all? It seems possibly healither long term if u were set on competing for the next decade. I recall an interview by nicole ball switched over and expresses how she enjoys it?

for me personally: I have ABSOLUTELY NO INTEREST in going in WOMENS PHYSIQUE
nothing against it
it's not for me
personally in 1 yr of it being around it's already Morphed into womens bbing anyways
and in another yr or 2 will be right where womens bbing is now anyways
it's the same thing called a different name
i'm old school in many ways, in training and in this I STAND FIRM
i'll compete in BODYBUILDING till theres no more shows left
goin down with the ship so to speak lol
what i thinks funny is
i dont' give a damn what you call it: BIKINI, FIGURE, FITNESS, PHYSIQUE, BODYBUILDING
it's all "BODYBUILDING"
the building of the body
so why change the name it's kinda absurd
change the judging, change the standard, but why change the name ?
you can call an apple an orange, but in the end it's still an apple

IMPORTANT NEW INFO on:
CBBF RULES on Womens Physique SUITS for National Events 2013
From:CBBF HEAD JUDGE: Debbie Karpenko
Date: 25 July, 2013
CBBF Chairman Mark Smishek
will not allow alot of stone work in the physique category.
I recommend there be a min of 1 1/2 - 2 " of material
between the rhinestones on the suits.
If there is to much bling he will ask them to remove it from their suits
or wear an alternative suit.
I also recommend each competitor have a back up suit.
RE: RHINESTONE LINING EDGES OF SUIT:
I didn't say anything about the edges of the suit.
I said there must be a space of material (recommend 1 1/2 - 2" )
between the rhinestones.

12 yrs ago i got the greatest gift EVER my son Storm....
who is also my GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT....
Today is his 12th birthday
and he's turned into a FINE YOUNG MAN,
who's now taller than me and has feet rivaling his step-dad (Brandon is size 12 lol)....
He's having an amazing summer, seaplane Vancouver to Nanimo, Qualicum beach few days with my parents,
then 10 day in Alberta at the International Scout Jamboree, 2 days home, seaplane back to Qualicum beach 2 wks, ferry home,
1 day at home, week and half at his Aunts in Abbotsfords Blueberry farm, 1 night at home, HIS BDAY TODAY, tomorrow PNE with other aunt and uncle,
home 1 night, seaplane back to Qualicum beach another wk and half, seaplane home on sept 2, GRADE 7 on sept 3rd....
he just asked me if he can go to India next summer as well....
man he's got a great life !
I'm so grateful to have this little GEM in my life
and that's how i want him to LIVE IT TO THE MAX
and get to experience as much diversity as possible...

1. Get clear about your goal.
Quite often, people want a positive life change, but they don’t know what exactly it is. Take some time in silence to think about it, set your goal and write it down.

Doing so will create a step-by-step process that will help you remove the fear of hesitation. It is important to be specific; make your goal achievable, measurable and having a time limit. For example, if your goal is to run a marathon you can commit yourself to regular trainings, each day running 1 km more than the previous day. Use the present tense instead of future and have a positive image. For instance, instead of saying I will fight laziness focus on “I exercise”.
3. Visualize.
It is powerful to imagine yourself achieve your goal, but researchers say that you might benefit more from visualizing the process of doing instead of just the final result. For example, tennis players can benefit much more from imagining themselves training than winning.
4. Take action.
Start with the easiest sub-goal. Remind yourself of the “just a few minutes” rule. Evidence shows that people are more likely to finish the task once they have started, so to avoid procrastination you just need to start doing it for “just a few minutes”.
5. Keep your goal alive.
It can be a good way to express your goals, plans, benefits and rewards in writing. Keep a journal, cover your fridge with pictures or make a poster! This way, you will be constantly reminded of your goal. And where the focus goes, energy flows.
6. Keep the benefits in mind.
Focus your attention on how achieving your aims will bring positive change to your life. Having a positive picture will help you overcome possible difficulties. Rewarding yourself on accomplishing your sub-goals is likely to boost the chance of success.
7. Get help from others.
On your way to finish, you will meet people who can make your life easier. It is wise to remember that if you want to get help from others, you need to help people first.
There are also some general tips to achieve your goals and make the step taking process much easier:
• Tell your friends, family and colleagues about your goals. It will bring a new level of commitment to your plans. Now, you are additionally motivated to keep your promise
• Stay positive, don’t surrender to the negative. Doubts, obstacles and negative thoughts may come your way and try to divert your attention. Instead of fighting them, switch to a positive image!
• Believe. One can never say enough about how important this tip is. Even if everybody else doubts you, believing that there is light at the end of the tunnel might eventually create one!
• Express gratitude. Counting your blessings will create the energy to help you succeed!
Finally, while chasing for something we often forget to enjoy staying on the road. Remember that not only achieving your goal, but walking the way, too, is the reward in itself.

EGG WHITE Protein Pancakes
My favorite are using banana but you can put almost anything it in, canned pumpkin, berries, shredded apple (shred on cheese crater), applesauce, frozen cranberries etc)
Ingrediants FOR BANANA PROTEIN PANCAKES:
- Liquid Eggwhites (depends on how many grams of protein you need, I use 1 ½ cups)
- Banana
- Cinnamon (I use Costco “Kirkland” brand it’s the best and use 4-6 big shakes cuz I don’t like eggs so it disguises the taste, plus I love cinnamon)
- Starchy Carb if you are allowed I use either uncooked oatmeal, Nutracleanse, or cooked black or brown rice (if using cooked rice, measure amount you need, put on plate beside skillet, once mix egg mixture and pour in skillet then sprinkle on rice, then push into eggwhites with flipper)
· BE PRHEATING YOUR NON-STICK SKILLET ON MED HEAT COATEDF WITH PAM SPRAY
(I prefer my pancakes to be thicker so I use an 8” skillet)
· BLEND ALL INGREDIANTS WELL IN BLENDER
· POUR IN SKILLET
· Make sure heat of skillet is NOT too high or the pancake with not cook thru and you will have trouble when it comes to flipping it
· When you go to flip it should lift up easily if not put it back down
· Most people cook too high of heat so it doesn’t cook thru hence it not being able to flip
· Flip cook other side it won’t need as long
· Cook on cooling rack or underside will sweat and get soggy
· This is when I go take shower etc and let them well cool
· Once cook top with Natural Peanut Butter or Nut butters (ie: almond, cashew etc)
· Then I cut in half, fold together, then cut in wedges
· I eat one for breakfast, 1 later in day
· I cook 2 at one time so have 2 skillets going
· They don’t freeze well they get soggy
· But I have made and eat them up to 5 days later
· ENJOY

so i'm a NATIONAL CHAMPION in 2 countries in 2 sports,
as i'm also the US National Champion Powerlifter...
and although i didn't get my PRO CARD YET, i'm pretty darn close....
and even though when the Head Judge of BC in 1994 told me
i'd never get anywhere in the sport of Bodybuilding cuz i don't have the structure they're lookin for....
i never ever gave up what i believed in my heart...
and continue on i go....
AGAIN in 2014 I WILL GIVE IT MY ALL !

until ultimately we become enslaved by it.
Before you begin a thing,
remind yourself that difficulties and delays
quite impossible to foresee are ahead.
If you could see them clearly,
naturally you could do a great deal to get rid of them but you can't.
You can only see one thing clearly and that is your goal.
Form a mental vision of that and cling to it through thick and thin.
Energy is the essence of life.
Every day you decide how you're going to use it
by knowing what you want and what it takes to reach that goal,
and by maintaining focus.
The key is action.
PERSEVERENCE is essential... no matter what.....
The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows.
It's a very mean and nasty place
and I don't care how tough you are

Happy Birthday Bruce,
today was my baby brother Bruce's birthday,
gone but not forgotten.
He died in 1991 at 21 yrs old from injuries sustained in a car accident....
and this saturday i will be going to my best friend since i was 8 yrs old
her brother Micheals funeral...
i've known the Creighton family for 41 yrs..
i grew up with them, they were like my 2nd family....
WE MISS YOU BROTHERS...
when sad things like this happen it makes you think ABOUT LIFE ,
and how fleeting and precious it is...
this poem called "THE DASH" captures these thoughts....
"I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on his tombstone from the beginning…to the end.
He noted that first came the date of his birth
and spoke of the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all was
the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time that he spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved him know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own,the cars…the house…the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.
So, think about this long and hard.
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
that can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough to consider what’s true and real
and always try to understand the way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger
and show appreciation more
and love the people in our lives like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect
and more often wear a smile,
remembering that this special dash might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy is being read,
with your life’s actions to rehash…
would you be proud of the things they say about how you spent YOUR dash?"

Always there like a beacon in the pitch black.
I have found the Iron to be my greatest friend.
It never freaks out on me, never runs.

It is often easier to become outraged by
injustice half a world away
than by oppression and discrimination half a block from home.
Sometimes, people can be extraordinarily judgmental and closed-minded
to anyone different or special.
One reason if fell in love with BODYBUILDING WAS....
I DIDN'T HAVE TO BE THE PRETTY ONE,
I DIDN'T HAVE TO BE THE POPULAR ONE...
I FINALLY FOUND THAT I COULD EMBRACE WHO I WAS
as i was always one even as a small girl to enjoy physical things,
i was strong, stronger than most of the boys even at a very young age...
i'd much rather be out building something with my dad outside,
building the barn, fences, digging a ditch in the rain...
i never played with dolls, i wasn't into that froo froo girly stuff,
was always out in the barn, i built muscle quickly...
and so when i found bodybuilding i finally went
" WOW THIS IS WHO I AM, I CAN BE GOOD AT THIS, THIS IS FUN" ....
It is very sad indeed to me that people are still so judgmental,
that they still discriminate,
especially large corporate companies...
but to you i say
"I'M PROUD TO BE A FEMALE BODYBUILDER
and I DO NOT NEED YOUR APPROVAL TO BE ME, BE WHO I AM"

nd what jumped out at me right away was the movie "Little Miss Sunshine"...
JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED...
if you have never seen it i wish i could get all my COMPETITORS TO WATCH IT...
and any and everyone...

Kelowna WESTERN CANADIAN SHOW in May WILL STILL QUALIFY TOP 3 FOR BC CHAMPIONSHIPS.
CROSSOVERS: it was decided we will be allowing CROSSOVERS within the same year, but not within the same show (ie: if you competed in BIKINI at the Krack Klassic show and for Kelowna show you decided you want to compete in FIGURE you now can)
Starting in 2014 Masters Athletes in Figure & Bikini MUST QUALIFY TOP 3 at a NOVICE LEVEL SHOW in order to compete in the BC CHAMPIONSHIPS. EXEMPT are Masters, Grand Masters Bodybuilders can go straight to BC’s without qualifying
2014 WOMENS & MENS PHYSIQUE COMPETITORS MUST QUALIFY TOP 3 at a NOVICE LEVEL SHOW in order to compete in the BC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Any BC OVERALL CHAMPION ATHLETE who wants to compete in a different category / crossover you must submit a “BY” to BCABBA and will be handled on an individual basis (ie: if you are an Overall BC Champ in Fitness and you would like to crossover to Figure, or Figure crossover to Physique)
ATHLETES WHO NO SHOW AT THE NIGHT SHOW get a two year ban (legitimate reasons are an exception (ie: Medical Emergency). This extends to B.C. athletes in CBBF National and IFBB (as in World Qualifier & North American & World Championship ) events as well. BCABBA will impose the two year ban on a B.C. athlete
Athlete funding for the year totaled $42,000 for 2013. Funding for National level athletes is available every year. Criteria must be met see www.bcabba.org for more info

The 2014 calendar of events: Krack Klassic - Mar. 1; Western Canadian Natural - May 18; Northern Classic - Jun. 7; B.C. Provincial Championships- Jun. 29; Sandra Wickham Fall Classic - Nov. 8
Athletes who compete in the Western Canadian Natural Championships are once again able to qualify for the B.C's due to the introduction of the Krack Klassic.
Michelle Krack is setting up a Female Athlete Bursary for female athletes competing within the BCABBA. Contact her for further information.
Point raised about the importance of music editing for night show routines. Rules are posted on our site, and will be strictly enforced. ANY PROFANITY WILL NOT BE TOLERATED… if you do NOT edit it from your posing routine YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED NO EXCEPTIONS

The images below show an incredible variety of women, ranging in weight, height, race and proportion. What they all have in common is that they are professional athletes at their physical peak. The images, taken by photographer Howard Schatz for his 2002 book, Athlete, recently resurfaced, reminding us of the diversity of women's bodies. Schatz interviewed and photographed hundreds of athletes for the book, a project he says was inspired by his interest in human variation and the musculoskeletal system. "I was also interested in passion," "I was interested in what got them to do this. Because to become a champion, you have to put away so many things in life."
During his interviews, Schatz noted very little difference between how the male and female athletes approached their sport. "I found that [the women in the project] were simply athletes," he told HuffPost. "Their commitment, their focus in life, their goals for winning and championship were not different from the men's. [T]here wasn't a feminine focus, a feminine ambition."
The only gender difference apparent to Schatz was how the athletes approached the issue of having children. Some of the women mentioned that they would put off having kids until they were past their physical prime. "Men didn't really have to delay having families, and having a family didn't seem to interfere with their pursuits," Schatz said.
Throughout the project, Schatz says he remained in awe of his subjects. He told HuffPost: "Focus, determination, competition and pursuit of a goal do not have a gender."

I first met Greg Kovacs back in 2010 having known of Greg Kovacs for years. What was not to know, the world's strongest and largest pro bodybuilder who had set records of a 700 lb bench press and graced many magazines including the cover of Ironman.
What captured me about Greg, once I got past his 360 lbs of muscle on a 6'2" frame was his calm demeanor, the true essence of a gentle giant. Greg and I immediately became close friends and I also started to train under his knowledge.
I can still remember having to rotate going to the sushi restaurants in the GTA not to put them out of business with our intake at an all you can eat.
Greg turned pro way back in the early 90's winning the Canadian Bodybuilding Championships and earning his International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) Pro card. Greg went on to finish as high as 13th at the Arnold Classic.
Greg was so huge that he did not really have the aesthetics to go top 5 in the top competitions in the world, yet he had a great following of fans due to his sheer strength, size and his personable demeanor.
The king of the supplement companies Muscletech actually signed Greg to a very good contract back when they 1st got started. This is where I believe the industry killed Greg. Wanting Greg to step on the scales always 400 lbs or more of ripped muscle is not easy on the body. Greg often lamented about the quantity of food he had to eat and how hard it was to breath at that size.
Indeed when Gregs weight slipped into the 340-360 range, his contract was cancelled and the industry turned their back on still the largest and strongest bodybuilder in the world.
Greg went on to write with many publications and "the Kovacian" was a sought after column by anyone wanting to pack on muscle.
I cannot emphasize enough how much of a gentle, kind man Greg was and he absolutely loved his girlfriend Catherine Dupuis beyond imagination.
Greg Kovacs died of heart failure on Nov 25 and took his last breaths in the arms of Catherine at the age of 44.
The bodybuilding community and the industry that turned their back on Greg have lost one of their true ambassadors.
Goodbye my friend, my only reasoning for God to take you so young is that he needs a training partner in heaven.

after alot of deliberation
i have decided not to compete in 2014,
it was a very hard decision but i feel a necessary one...
i'm booking my Hernia surgery for January...
and 2014 my son moves into High school,
I did not feel right about being away for him taking this big step,
as the North Americans are Aug 29th in Pittsburgh
and Canadian Nationals are Sept 6th in Montreal...
that would mean i would be away for his first days of grade 8 high school
and was not sitting well with me....
my son and my health are top priorities to me
and even though so is my bodybuilding career and the dream of attaining my pro card,
and being so darn close,
i really feel it is in the best interest of my son and my health to take 2014 off competing....
i do feel sad about this,
but sometime we need to suck it up and do things we know we must....
BUT I'LL BE BACK BIGGER BADDER & THE BEST Dawn Alison ever in 2015....

1 scoop protein, 1/4 cup oat flour (oats ground in coffee grinder),
1 tbsp cocoa powder, 1 tsp baking powder, a little stevia,
and a splash of egg whites (until it's batter consistency!)

my client & Bodybuilding competitor Karen Gillich (another HIGHLY ORGANIZED LADY)
brought in these amazing healthy no sugar added cookies at posing practice the other day...
she came up with this amazing recipe:
THANK YOU KAREN FOR SHARING xo
Karen’s Kopy-Kat Kookies:
¾ cup toasted coconut
½ cup large flake oatmeal
¾ cup quick oats
¾ cup Nutracleanse
2 scoop vanilla protein powder
¾ cup peanut butter
¾ cup mini chocolate chips
½ cup egg whites
Mix all dry ingredients together.
Add peanut butter and chocolate chips;
use hand blender to evenly distribute the peanut butter.
Add egg whites; blend well.
Dough should be sticky and moist;
add more egg white to dough accordingly.
The cookies should hold together and not crumble apart.
Scale out 1.5 oz portions;
roll into a ball; lightly flatten;
place on cookie sheet;
bake at 350’ for 12 to 15 minutes.
Let cool on rack.
Makes about 16 cookies.

is not there is literally no restrictions in what you can wear for suits in ANY CLASSES.
including BODYBUILDING (which means, rhinestones, shiny fabrics could be worn in both am and pm shows) IN BOTH CBBF & BCABBA
the only restrictions is in suit bottom size
1/3 coverage of butt for bikini
and 1/2 coverage of butt for all other classes
SHOES NO RESTRICTIONS AT ALL YOU CAN WEAR WHATEVER YOU LIKE

CBBF National EVENTS 2014 is having MASTERS PHYSIQUE FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN....
here's the official word from CBBF President Mark Smishek:
Will be two classes for women and men master physique in Edmonton.
Only one class for each in Winnipeg's WORLD QUALIFIER.
However as usual we will weigh and height each athlete in Winnipeg.
The first place athlete in each of the classes offered at the IFBB world events will be offered the opportunity to compete at the world's.
However funding may or may not occur.
This decision is made following the doping control results, number of selected athletes, etc

RECIPE: TEAM Fit Body’s CRYSTAL’s Chicken cakes
2 lbs ground chicken, 3 eggwhites, 1 cup quick oats, ½ tsp ground cumin, ½ tsp thyme, 2 tsp mustard,
2 tsp blk pepper, 2 tsp chipotle pepper spice, 1 tsp salt, 2 tbsp garlic powder (or 2 cloves minced),
1 sm onion, 2 celery/ parsley
Preheat oven 375, spray muffin tins with Pam
or you can just roll into baseball size balls and put on cookie sheet,

yesterday was on a mission,
went thru all my, Brandon's and Storms clothes, shoes, etc,
to DONATE TO THE VICTIMS of the FIRE in New Westminster Apartment Building 404 Ash street Jan 31, 2014.
We took to St. Barnabas Church, New West...
ironically i was just going over and renewing my house insurance for personal belongings this week...
and when i saw the fire live via internet,
i thought to myself how many people probably don't even have any insurance....
Local organizations are stepping up to the plate to help deal with the aftermath of today's devastating fire.
Dozens of people were left without homes and their possessions were destroyed, after fire tore through a building at 404 Ash St. Within hours of the blaze, residents were contacting local agencies and area schools inquiring how they could help.
The City of New Westminster has been in contact with local organizations that are ready and willing to accept donations for affected residents.
The Salvation Army, located at 325 Sixth St., will accept clothing and small household items (no furnishings), while St. Barnabas Church, located at 1010 Fifth Ave.) will accept clothing, small household items and small furnishings. You can reach the Salvation Army at 604-521-0363 and St. Barnabas Church at 604-526-6646.
The Hospitality Project at Shiloh Sixth Avenue United Church is also accepting donations of clothing and small household items. Located at 1111 Sixth Ave., volunteers will be on hand on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday, Feb. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accept donations. For more information, call the Hospitality Project at 604-522-3443.
"We appreciate the generous outpouring of support and encourage anyone wishing to donate to contact these local service organizations," stated a press release from the city.
Anyone wishing to make a cash donation to assist tenants displaced by the fire can drop by the New Westminster branch of Community Savings Credit Union at 1188 Eighth Ave, where an account has been set up. The credit union is open Tuesday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Hernia Surgery update (see attached pic)
surgery went well, so happy didn't get sick from anesthesia
on account they gave me a really good drug to counteract it this time
ONDANSETRON wonder drug, this is 3rd day after, bit sore, not too bad

Here is all the information provided directly from the IFBB Rules:
Rule 40 - Mixed-Pairs Competition
40.1 Mixed-Pairs Competition:
Where mixed-pairs competition is held, the judging will follow the same procedures
as is used for the other categories of competition, except for the following:
1. If there are more than 15 mixed-pairs, an Elimination Round will be held for the
purpose of reducing the number to 15, said Elimination Round which will be
conducted as per Rules 23 - 25.
2. The Prejudging (Round 1) will be conducted as per Rules 26- 28, except that the
maximum number of mixed-pairs that may be compared at any one time will not
exceed three.
3. Mixed-pairs perform the same 5 compulsory poses as in women’s bodybuilding.
4. The top 6 placings at the end of the Prejudging will qualify for the Finals.
5. The Finals will be conducted as per Rules 30 - 35. The top 6 finalists will perform
compulsory poses and posedown. This will be followed by their free posing routine,
the length of which will be up to a maximum of 90 seconds.
6. The award ceremony for the mixed-pairs will be conducted as per Rule 36.
7. The same judging forms that are used to judge the other categories of competition
will be used to judge mixed-pairs.
Rule 41 - Assessing Mixed-Pairs Physiques
41.1 The judge will assess each mixed-pair as an entity. Those whose physiques
match, harmonize, and complement each other will receive higher places than
mixed-pairs whose physiques are markedly dissimilar and unbalanced, as would be
the case of a tall ectomorphic man and a short mesomorphic woman, or vice versa.
This factor will continue to be of importance in the second round as well. When
similar poses and limb movements are used by the two partners, as in the
compulsory poses, higher places will be awarded for greater accuracy in achieving
identical lines. The five mixed-pairs poses are as follows:
(a) Front Double Biceps
(b) Side Chest
(c) Back Double Biceps
(d) Side Triceps
(e) Abdominals and Thighs

41.2 Mixed-Pair’s Posing Attire:
The rules for posing attire for men and women will also apply for the mixed-pairs,
however, preference will be given by the judge for matching and complementary
trunks and bikinis which enhance the mixed-pair’s physiques and their appearance
as a combined unit. Both members of each mixed-pair shall wear the same number
pinned to the left side of the trunks or bikini.
41.3 In the Finals, mixed-pairs will be assessed both individually and as a unit with
particular attention being given to how well their individual physiques complement
each other and how well they move in unison.
