Default Women deadlifting and waist size

Hey...looking for some feedback on this.

Deadlifting is awesome mass builder for guys and gals...anyone have any advice on ladies deadlifting (regular and straight leg) during contest prep...bulk and cutting..we do lots of both and are reconsidering as adverse with respect to waist size ....possibly giving blocky look as opposed to hourglass / X frame ..

It would probably take a long time for this to happen, to a person who squats really heavy and deads heavy all the time. And for someone who is looking to increase their taper and is in that middle road they would have to be careful here too. Both require a lot of core and stabilizer muscles, and over time will develop just like any other muscle on the body.

But then again deads do not have to be performed week in and week out, nor does heavy squats. And there are other variations to the exercises too.

agreed. non issue. For guys and gals. If you have a thick waist, its because of genetics, not because of deadlifting and squatting. Just look at my wife and I. I'd actually want to add some thickness to my waist to be honest! and she's about 3 inches wide.

i get every single girl i train doing both sumo and conventional deadlifts. some have the most tiny waist lines ull ever see. I mean i personally have been deadlifting and squating for that matter for 26 years and my waist is tiny compared to most guys i compete against.

I love deadlifting.. and squatting! and I have chicken legs and a skinny waist.. lol

I wear a belt for both.. Im not sure of the REAL science or theory behind wearing a belt.. it just makes me feel likeI keep my posture better sort of distributes the weight evenly..

I often read and sometimes mod on an all female site.. thickening of the waist is a concern for alot of ladies.. One Pro suggested wearing a weight belt REAL tight for all excercises in the gym... like I said.. a thick waist is a non issue for me, so I wouldnt have any idea if her suggestion has any merit or not... just throwing it out there! lol
