Dog should sleep on the floor not the bed

After almost two years of living together I finally caved in and let my girlfriend buy a dog, actually I bought it. Picked it up at the humaine society 2 months ago. I told her from the day 1 I don't want the dog on the bed. She was ok with that, now for the past 2 weeks, she's been wining about letting the dog sleep in the bed. "I dont' want the dog in the bed"...she "Why? I do want the dog in the bed". Me "The dog should sleep on the floor not the bed, the bed is for us, not the dog."

This conversation keeps going in a circle and is really starting to piss me off and she's becoming very upset over this issue. I've been with this girl for 6 years living for 2. I really hope this new dog doesn't tear us apart.

I like the dog, she's sweet, except she pee'd and pooped on the carpet 3 times already. I guess not bad in 2 months.

The thing is I let her have a dog, great, I just want my bed.

That's pretty good for a puppy. Just wait until the dog pukes in your bed, then you'll both be sorry.

One of my dogs was a little sh*t when he was a puppy - so I took him to obedience school. The instructor was this hilarious no-nonsense 60 year old lady with far too much plastic surgery - but she was seriously like the dog whisperer. In the last session you get the dog to lie down and pour treats on the floor right in front of his face and he won't eat them until you say "okay".

Anyway, someone asked about this sleeping in the bed thing. She said "it's a dog, not a stuffed toy - do you want a stuffed toy? then go get one".

Seriously dogs do not sleep in bed with you - get a dog bed, put it next to yours so he can sleep in the same room, but not in bed. My dogs only get ON my bed on Sunday mornings when I sleep in.

Very unsanitary.....Dogs shit and piss and dont wipe and pee splashes on their legs etc.....We have a 190 lb great dane, for 1 no room on the bed, for 2 it would be disgusting and id sleep on the couch if he bullied me off the bed....

I don't see a problem with people who let their dog sleep on the bed, but I'm with you guys on this one. I go to work and earn money to pay the rent, buy my bed, and feed the dog. I want a good nights sleep and I couldn't get that with a dog rumbling around in bed taking up my space.

The dog is a dog, get him a damn dog bed, throw it on the floor and explain to your girlfriend if she wants to sleep with him she should feel free to join him in his bed, but you don't want him in yours. I would hope she respected and cared more about you then the dog, I don't see why this would be such a big deal.

I have cats, they are small and sleep on the bed with us at night, but if my girlfriend said she didn't want them on the bed my feelings wouldn't be hurt.

We have a dog bed upstairs in our bedroom and one downstairs in the living room. Our dog is quite content to have her own comfy place to sleep on.

I have my dog trained this well. I can put a plate of steaks down in front of him and he will not touch them. I can open the door and the dog will not come in or go out unless it is told. It took a lot of training on my part but it was worth it. I am still working on the new puppy.

You need to establish boundaries with the dog. If you let them do whatever they want, soon they will. A dog needs to know it's place. You need to establish that you are the dominant one or it will assume that role. You will all be better off because of it.

However, I babysat a bassett hound once and that thing was a sound sleeper that liked to spoon. It was actually kinda nice. lol Such a dopy loveable dog.

I do agree with it being unsanitary. Ever look a a dog bed? You best be washing the sheets regularly. I hate the hair as well.

Note to self tell GF she cant get the dog so this doesnt happen to me. Dont get me wrong id love a dog but not when i gotta sleep in the same bed with it slobbering on me and between me and my girl LOL.
