Yup,this is true..along with some other amino acids but i cant remember which ones.I know that there are some diet companies that sell "cookies" as their main dish for customers and they use amino acids to suppress appetite..and have had a lot of success in doing so.

Edit:i just did a search and L-Phenylalanine,L-Tyrosine and l-carnitine do as well it seems.

    4. Gum (3-4 pieces daily)

Sorry to chime in on this..but seen it and thought i'd comment on this..It is BAD to have Gum at this rate...limit it to one piece a day ..HIDDEN SUGAR....on the Palumbo(Keto) Diet..you have to let your body go into ketosis...if you even have something thats semi sweet ..it will induce an insulin spike and thus take you out of Ketosis. Thats what i've read, been told and am STRUGGLING with now..and have been for 6 weeks o nthe diet now...Once 2-3 weeks go by..your body adjusts and doesnt really look for the carbs..the FATS keep you going and keep you non-lethargic. At least for myself and my wife. Works good for us..Love the diet and wouldnt do another show not doing this diet.

This is a pretty loaded statement, any evidence to back this up re: 0 cal gum -->insulin spike -->out of ketosis

im just going from what the man himself(Palumbo) has said about gum ..but ya obviously all those things mentions are last resorts and IDEALLY will be avoided

That is what i was trying to say ....not sure if he himself says that it will indeed cause the insulin spike...but i was told that even something that triggers the senses to a sugar or of that nature will cause it to happen. Yes last resort thing...but i do believe that if you are that serious about doing things with absolutely no direct or indirect interference,,,then go all out and dont deviate from the plan. Just trying to say that if the diet is chicken and raw cashews..dont say ..well a little bit of ketchup wont hurt..or maybe a few extra pieces of gum will be ok ..its not a chochlate bar or donut...lol Not trying to bash the idea ..but i guess in the EXTREME cases of a contest diet is Follow it..Stick to it and see where the results take you.. If you deviate from it..you'll never know the true outcome of what may have resulted from a dedicated plan and regamine....and most of all the willpower to not stray .

So again guys not trying to cause a big stink ..but everyone knows that small things could and have led to bigger things in deviating from a diet and plan.

Been doing some googling on dave and gum and it seems that he doesnt mind a few pieces per day..so my bad ..i guess i learn something new everyday ..And just to be honest..i had been told by someone that did use dave for precontest to limit to 1 piece/day.

Eat a whopper with no bun.
Boggles my mind why people with no desire to compete punish themselves with the palumbo diet.

    Hi guys,

I'm 5 days in on the Palumbo, so far it sucks not eating carbs, I haven't felt like this since I quit smoking. It's tolerable so I'll suck it up. Just tired a lot.

I do have a few questions about it.

When my kids are eating carbs like NOW, is there a way to kill the cravings?
Have a zero carb drink with creatine and fibre drink a litre and you should feel full. Another option is to set your largest meal with your kids ei dinner so that you are full up and don't have any appetite, let alone any craving for carbs.

How much weight can you lose weekly?

Me and Rickyboy are similar in 1st week losses around 7 pds water and 3 pounds of other lol.
Future weeks are 1.5-2 pds consistant. Dont weigh yourself daily if you dont want to deal with glycogen water fluctuation weigh yourself the morning after your glycogen replenishment.

Can I skip the cheat meal? If not, what do you guys eat?

You dont need a cheat meal you do need a calorie surplus(to boost your metabolism), glycogen replenishment day (To allow you to train). By no means does this day have to time off dieting.
i double my weekly cals to 5000 and make 70%carbs15%pro15Fat for macros in clean carbohydrates.

How many carbs does it take to kick out of keto? I had 2 forks of pasta on tuesday night at work....felt bad after.

The brain uses approx 100 grams of carbohydrates daily when not using ketones. The introductory 2 week keto period is key to flip the switch in your body to instinctively rely on ketones instead of carbs, making getting back into ketosis easier. if u ingest carbs in the first two weeks you are going to feel it, headaches, lathargic mood. You brain is trying to operate on carbs again and uses those few carbs you presented to it and then starts into gluconeogenesis eating your muscular systems to produce glucose. After 2 weeks it has been proven that the body remains in ketosis even after carb injestion for a period of 24 hours. This means for the average practitioner that you can have a day of pure carbs after 2 weeks and still be in ketosis the next day so the brain never switches over and sluggish feelings found in the introductory weeks are absent.

How long do you stay on a diet like this?
As long as you want but assuming you are on a cycle. Once you lose the weight you wanted to lose. Get on a carbohydrate clean bulking diet to optimal muscle gains. Rinse and repeat.
