I personally bought a sled off Kijiji for 20$ it's a good place to check. If I didn't find one I was going to make one. Here's some ideas:

How to make a Tire Sled: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...7223533&page=1

I was also thinking of using a toboggan and just adding loading pins with plumbing pipes and flanges. All very cheap if you get the sleigh from Kijiji.

As far as the harness goes, I have a real harness that I don't really like, it chokes you. A chain from the hardware store you loop into a loose weight belt is my preference. Get some carabiners to attach it to your sled.
Thanks man! Appreciate it. Question: what do you mean by sled off kijiji, like a snow sled type thing? Magic Carpet? lol

Also; what's this made of? http://img42.imagevenue.com/img.php?...5_PICT0416.JPG A wheelbarrow?

Here's a site I found that makes wood-based products that could be easily replicated which I am going to try: http://www.theramsled.com/
I lost 20 pounds...How? I drank bear piss and took up fencing. How the **** you think, son? I exercised.

Well I bought a real football sled off kijiji, some guy went to play college ball in the states and his sister sold all his weights including his sled, I got the sled and harness for 20$.

    Kijiji has great stuff.

Yeah, that's a wheelbarrow. I have seen some guys use an old sink, the tire sled is pretty common because the rubber add resistance and it's really easy to build. You can get free old tires outside of garages.

Martin the guy who started our training crew is putting together two amateur strongman comps that will occur in the next 3-4 months in the Gatineau/Ottawa area. It's time to start training events if you are interested.

    Hi Val,

Come try the strongman style workouts with us on a Saturday morning from 8am to 10am.

There is a lot of carryover from Strongman to Powerlifting especially in the Deadlift and Squat. Not so much in the bench press because we focus on Overhead Presses instead.

There are Strongwoman comps in QC and in Ontario also, you might like it. Really the workouts resemble Crossfit a bit if that's what you want. We prefer to do less conditioning and more Strength but if someone wanted to they could easily use lighter weights and get a Crossfit type workout.

Most of us speak french also.

If you are interested email Marty at hyperforce@live.ca

It's not a group workout in that there is no instructor telling the group what to do.

We are a group of 6-10 people that meet at a school gym and we practice 3-4 events per Workout. Usually we all do the same event one after the other spending 30min or so per event.

Sometimes the group splits up and some people are pressing for example while others do Farmer's Walk or Pull a sled.

It's not about keeping up, it's about getting stronger for everyone. As long as we are all progressing that's all that matters.

On Saturday we had some new guys doing Shoulder Presses with 135lbs with an Olympic Bar and on the other range of the spectrum we had one guy doing Axle Shoulder Presses with 350lbs. We all have different starting strength levels but since we have a lot of equipment it's easy to adjust according to strength.

Come check it out, first time is free then we all kick in to pay the gym rental. Bring a friend if you are more comfortable.
