    Good one!

I hope the Southerns can drum up some entrants (male BB, that is!) next year as well...

It won't be next year, but there's talk (Dave and I always attend the General Meeting after Provincials) of adding a Classic Bodybuilding class after seeing how the class goes at this year's Nationals.

    Veeerrrry interesting...

I don't fully understand yet, but I think it could also be called male fitness model. The class would be divided by height (short and tall) and judged more on aesthetics, proportion, "classic" lines than by degree of mass. It would be aimed at bringing in those guys with nice but smaller physiques who don't have the mass rewarded in the weight classes.

It's all about increasing the CBBF shows' appeal to a broad base of competitors...I understand from a profitability/business standpoint.

Oh gawd! There's a great idea...let's make the show even longer! Hmmmm, maybe we can let them to compete in the open class, the over 35 class and the over 45 class too! And then if they still don't place, the can enter the BB'ing class too. Nothing like seeing the same competitor 6 times in one show...

    Wow.

I agree...this is why if they do a Classic class or whatever it is they should do it with the Canadian Fitness Championships.

Oh ok, so this show qualified them for the AB Provincials?

Just curious because a friends bud won the light-heavy there I guess.

they've had classic for a while now...At least 5 years. However it was only in the tested stream with CBBF. I can understand why...however, I can't understand why they would open this division up in the non-tested stream as well....

So you'll have natural bodybuilders (most of which if natural will likely meet the requirments for classic), and then perhaps guys who are using drugs who are simply not dedicated enough to actually put on some muscle, yet enhanced enough to do well in a "classic" division.

I've said it before, I don't agree with adding more and more divisions, and classic bodybuilding is included. Now to step it up further and throw it in the non-tested shows is silly. If you're on juice, and can STILL meet the requirments to make the classic cutoff, then you need to rethink your eating or gym habits.

Southerns will have more bodybuilders next year as it is the year for masters and juniors..... it alternates yearly between Northerns and Southerns

Historically the shows that have masters and juniors have more bodybuilding competitors.
