I just "discovered" this exercise and loved it, almost as much as a I love clean and press.

I see how it does wonders for peoples traps...:yeah

ya it's a great exercise, this and deadlifts have helped my clean & jerk tremendously

Have you tried doing it snatch grip with a shrug at the top?

Also a word of advice is not to explode the bar up until about knee level as that is when one has the most favorable leverage.

I don't think you're actually suppose to just let the bar drop after each rep when you reach the top. that bitch doesn't know how to workout. lol kidding

I prefer the power clean to the high pull personally but you can use more weight with the high pull and technique is a little less demanding.

variations, variations, variations... I like them all.

Even though I don't consider myself really strong or muscular (5'11" 19?lbs 10%bf) years of athletics made me love anything that incorporates explosive movements.

My neurological system adapts fast and I learn the techniques easily.

Next week I start a routine to help me to develop athleticism and vertical jump.

Wish me luck.

Split Jerks work vertical jump very well, but you have to make sure you have your palms open and did not wrap your thumb around the bar. This ensures you initiate the movement with the legs and then follow through with arms, thus replicating a vertical jump.

I have to work on my wrist flexibility to properly rack the bar on my shoulders for the overhead lifts but the olympic lifts really hit your muscle in a different way from the slow lifts.
