Howdy all,

I am not a vegetarian but I am lactose intolerant. I've been using whey powder for years but only recently I'm finding that my allergy is getting worse. I'm cramped up for hours after a full dose of whey poweder and I think I have to switch to a veggie protein.

I was wondering if anyone else is using a veggie protein and what you think of it? Also are you taking BCAA to help fill out the veggie protein?

And lastly has anyone used this:
INTERACTIVE VEGETARIAN COMPLETE PROTEIN

Use a Whey Isolate.

Yes maybe that will work. I would like to keep using a whey product. I guess I'll have to try a couple of things. Thanks.

I know a guy who is lactose intolerant but must have another issue or two because he can't use soy (digestion issue) or hemp (same). He's tried most, including a couple of different brands of whey isolate but they've not worked. He did find that rice protein and egg white protein both worked well for him.

I did try an isolate about 3 years ago but I can't remember if it affected me any different than whey is now. I think my allergy is getting worse. I'm also not supposed to eat eggs. Boring, I know. I have no problems with soy, I injest a lot of it. I usually buy the biggest tub of protein power I can get my hands on but perhaps buying some smaller buckets first can help me get this straightened out.

Gemma Protein might be a good option, comes from peas. You can get it in bulk from trueprotein.com, probably other places too. Although it may not taste great and is apparently thicker and harder to mix compared with whey protein isolate.

SS is right. Use a whey iso with a digestive enzyme every time you have a shake. you wont have any issues if your iso protein is legit iso

Cool. Thanks for the tips. I think I'll go with a good quality ISO first. Have a great weekend all.
