I'm allowed 100GB of download a month from Shaw. In May, I downloaded 42GB and uploaded 84GB. So as you can count, ya I went over. Then I get this email yesterday from Shaw that I went over last month. Then I get a call from some rep saying I went over and to be careful. This pisses me off!! For the 10 months previous I've been under 50GB per month up/down!!! I NEVER get a call saying that I'm not using the FULL 100GB!!
Bunch of cockroaches!!

Ya i hate shaw. I went over once and they called and disconnected my internet for one day. They said the next time you go over we will disconnect you for a week. ****en bitches..

A couple of years ago they cut off my connection entirely cause i went over....again it was the upload stream that caused me to go over...

Sadly, MTS is worse!!! No other high speed options here in Manitoba!!

A few years ago I was a regular on their list. Now I never hear from them despite being a fairly heavy torrent user. Uploads used to be the sore point for them as it limited the bandwidth on the shared connection. In the area I'm in I'm pretty sure we've got decent digital switches so bandwidth isn't as much of a problem.

I was called a "bandwidth abuser" I then asked the lady if they had a 12 step program...she laughed but sadly I still was disconnected for the day with the threat of being disconnected for 30 days if i go over again...never had a problem with uploads most of the programs i used for downloads were cracked so i could limit uploads to what ever i wanted without limiting the speed of my downloads...

Well, my issue is this. I found this great torrent site I now download .MKV files from at lightening speeds (1.5MB a second) and need to seed a ratio of 75% or 70 hours. This site by far is the best site I've used. Plus with the new purchase of an external .MKV player hooked up to my TV, .MKV is now my life! Bye Bye Divx....
Courtesy warning call? my ISP charged me 7$ per gb excess over 30.

Last year I was using 250gb++ a month pretty consistantly and we kept getting phone calls about it but they cant actually do anything. Freaked my parents out but I talked to Shaw and it turns out all they can do is 'warn' you lol.

I call BS. They can disconnect you. It's all in their terms of service that you have access to a reasonable limit (which can be whatever the hell they want...)
I'm with Sasktel and they don't have a monthly cap. I frequently queue up 60+ gb worth of torrents and let them seed for a week after they are done downloading...

This must suck... I've only ever been with Bell and Rogers, and never been limited... Does Shaw not have unlimited packages?

$94 a month for 150GB. I think it's bullshit to cap anyone! MTS doesn't do it but then again, I hear their DSL sucks.
