View Full Version : Another injection question (shakes head...)

So I`m 6 shots into my cycle. I feel lucky after every shot nothing went wrong. I`m doing glute shots laying on my side. When lying on my side, pinning the lower area of the glute just makes it easier to see if there is blood in the syringe. But when laying in my side the needle goes in my glute side ways and not directly in from the back, just wondering if it`s wrong to do it that way.
I`ve watched the youtube video posted here about 20 times and know where to do the shot. But I always tend to pin much lower than the recommended upper/outer pinning area. But in the glute muscle obviously. If I were to pin in the upper outer area, there is no way I could see if there is blood in the syringe. Do you see any problems with injecting much lower than the typical pinning spot? My last shot I pinned very low in the glute muscle and had the least post injection pain yet. I almost think I`m overthinking this and just say, flex your glute, and pin it, as long as it`s in the muscle. Can that general way of thinking lead me wrong?
The only way I can see myself pinning the upper outer area would be to pin if I were sitting down. But then again how do you see if there is blood in the syringe? Or even draw back on the syringe? I can`t even see myself being able to reach back that far and complete the shot. Man I feel lost here.
Also I`ve noticed if I do glute stretches the day I pin, it makes for extended post injection pain in the muscle. Anyone else notice this?

be careful pining your lower glute. thats were the sciatic nerve (dont know how to spell it) is located. and if you hit that with your pin its gonna be real painful. thats why they say to pin the upper outer glute. just use a mirror that should solve your problems. how many injections are you doing a week ? and how much gear are you using ?? if you dont mind me asking

Wow Rich buddy, you were right when you said you are way over thinking this. What are you doing brother. laying down on your side flexing your glute standing on your head, doing push ups while holding a mirror to see if there's blood...I'm busting your balls here bro.
Look seriously. lower glute, upper glute who cares, get to a mirror and do it that way. I can't do glutes easily anymore because I cramp up sometimes trying to look around. how the heck you gonna shoot if your sitting on your ass. I never flex no matter where im pinning, that just adds resistence, if you hit a nerve, back off and start over (especially improtant if your near the Syatic Nerve). if you hit a vein, back off and start over. and every once in awhile your gonna hurt from injecting foreign matter into your body, so get ready for it.

2 injections a week, Mon/Thur, doing 1ml shots but it`s strongly dosed at 450mg/ml (250ml test 200ml equipoise from SAL) so 900mg gear a week.

Actually you`re close... It must have taken me 40 minutes to get my first shot it. I swear. Looking in the mirror "alright, there`s the spot" then I`d lie on my bed then say "ah shit, I`m not sure if that`s it" then get up again, do that a few time, then re-wipe the area with alcohol again, wash my hands again...

shoot your delts....find edge of collar bone, put 3 fingers together, place the index finger on edge of bone and then where ring finger is will be the spot to inject....Then experiment...hell with 1 cc, you can go anywhere basically...peak of biceps, delts, upper outer edge of glute....etc. etc..

I don`t flex when I`m injecting, just before to locate the glute muscle. Just wanted to add the shot is done in the lower glute, but to the right of the sciatic nerve, I`m pretty sure I know where it lies. I may just go try a shot standing with a mirror to hit the upper outer area. I just can`t get that area lying on my side.

you need to worry more about the ester....You are using EQ, and enanthate if im not mistaken...not really known for injection pain...Volume also is where the pain can come in due to fascia stretch....I put in 2 ccs of test prop and 1.4 ccs of masteron prop (past the 3 ml line until stopper dead ends) eod ...fill the syringe and jab, even with all prop esters, no pain...well not much pain, just stiff..
You are doing 1 cc per inject, you will be fine my man...IMO

Fair enough, I took your advice and did the deltoid shot. Feels kinda weird now, a little sore I`d say, but I remember getting winny shot in my deltoid and it feeling a little aggravated after, just hope I can sleep on it tonight. Gotta try different pinning locations sooner or later, and since I`m not training until thursday, now is an ideal time to do so. Although it`s said to use a 5/8 pin, I used a 1 inch pin hope that`s not much of a big deal. One little detail type question here. I was rotating my shoulder slightly to the side/forward bringing my elbow near the side of my stomach to make sure I was well centred when pinning the deltoid. In your opinion is this to be avoided? I ask because the shoulder may not be relaxed 100%

1 inch is perfect ritch....I always have to have my delt a little flexed to turn into it, it doesnt seem to affect me to much...I believe you will be fine...Next shot do other delt, then bumcheek right, bumcheek left and repeat, no scar tissue this way .....
Good work bro, it will feel weird at first, maybe even a bit stiff, but after a couple times you may even forget where you shot it when it comes time to pin again...

i use a 1" for everything stick it all the way in in my quads and i'm fine
my rotation is delts, bi's calfs, quads. thinking about tri's and pecs.
if you're only doing 1ml twice i week you could just go with your quads ( waay easier then glutes )
after the first injection it wont be as sore in that area anymore.
i'm thinking about trying .75ml in my anterior tribialis ( front of the shin ) and the lower part of my quad that goes by your knee ( forgot the name someone once called it an oyster lol )

ya ritch try your quad, its so much easier, you can use both hands the spot is right in front of you so no twisting. just try it it took me a while to get used to quad shots but now they are one of my favorites.

Never had an abcess, or anything else in that regard, but watched several buddies have a half-head sized abcess removed from glutes and quads no exagerration......:D

hahah com'on my idea wasnt that wrong, lol,, the last thing I want is ritch to get abscesses. but I think quads if you do it right are a great spot. but its true my first few shots were quite painful I was eating advil for a few days.

I use 1" for quads and delts, 1.5" for glutes
I rotate the 6 locations daily.
I keep looking for another spot as I'd like a couple more days in the rotation but I haven't found anything comfortable yet. Happily there is lots of room on the glute, and 3 deltoid muscles. The quad while big seems to only have a few places for me that aren't filled with veins or nerves.

Quads sure seem like a convenient place to inject, but heard bad things about them due to the large number of nerves. I`d have to do the quad shot on a thursday as I always train legs on wednesday, but have to be standing all weekend. If the quad shot is as painfull as it sounds it would make for a rough shift at work because I have to stand all night. I`ve read some people really prefer pec shots, would just seem weird sticking a needle 1 inch deep in my chest.

Man, that`s the story of my life. I can blurt out stuff to my sister from way back, very obscure and so not important things, and she has no clue what I`m talking about. My parents don`t even remember the things I sometimes tell them. Then my mom says "Why can`t you remember math formulas like all the stupid things you remember, like time you`re friend Kevin asked me if I fart like you do..."

Hey bro, I love quad shots, have done lots and havn't had any seriously painfull ones, or ones that effected my workouts or job etc.. I always use 25g 1.5" and shoot the outer part, smooth, can use two hands, and easy to examine for blood during aspiration. Recently I also started injecting pecs. To my surprise it was completely painless, and much eaiser to shoot than delts. So quads and pecs are my favorite injection sites. By the way I also use 25g 1.5" for my pecs, and leave about 1/8''- 1/4" sticking out. Personally for me the deeper I inject the less post injection discomfort I get.

Doesn't anyone use the spot regarded as #1 for safe deep injects by most medical journals? I refer of course to the ventrogluteal muscle, right beneath the lilac crest of the hip bone and several inches above the trochanter (hip socket). Takes 1.5" of 23 g needle easily and there's very few nerves there. Best of all, you don't have to twist all the way around since it's on the side.

Sort of. You can also inject just forward of the median hard tissue. Try here for a more complete explanation:

In all honesty, I think the big guy is injecting too far back for the actual ventrogluteal, which is right under your hip bone. You may think there's bone there but it's only soft muscle tissue.

It's a small muscle though. I found injecting into the smaller muscle of the upper/outer glute to always have post-injection pain for a few days.. a bit lower down and I didn't get the same pain. I imagine injecting into a small muscle like that would likely hurt the next few days, for me anyway.

I found it easier to lay on the bed, proped up on pillows then pin it cause then you can see if there is blood. You have to be kinda flexible though.
or in the washroom in front of a mirror.

I'm going to try this injection spot once I can figure out where it actually is on my body.

Well I`ve done both shoulders this week. The left one on monday and the right delt last night. I let a buddy do the right delt shot and he stuck a 22 gauge 1 1/2 length in my shoulder. To my surprise it didn`t hurt during, but now, it`s like holy crap! It`s a good thing I`m off until friday or even next monday because they`re really sore. Even flexing the tricep makes me sore. The worst pain is felt if trying to do a lateral raise type movement, or even pressing down on the couch to try and get up. Just hope nobody says " Hey Ritch" then taps me on the shoulder...
Next shot is tommorow. Gonna do pecs. From the pics I`ve seen you stick the dart in the dead center. Any tips are welcomed.

Ventrogluteal is not really the "upper/outer glute". It's right below the frigg'n hip bone (the frigg'n iliac frigg'n crest). (And that's my butt: Whaddya think?;))
