I`ve already talked to my neighbour`s kid about him leaving his car running. This winter he would let it warm up for 20 minutes before taking off. Once just to go get a coffee then come back. The most annoying thing about this car is the ****ing noise it makes. It`s louder than the trucks that came to repair the holes in the street and I`m not joking here. When I woke up one morning out the truck were repairing pot holes and couldn`t even hear them from down under where I reside...

So one night I talked to him about this and explained to me it`s an import. The steering wheel is on the left side... It has some turbo in it and needs to warm up before heading out during the winter. He told me during summer it won`t need the warm up. So I said to him fair enough it`s a turbo what can I do? I got informed from a guy who builds race cars and he says bullshit.

Right about 15 minutes ago he was in his car letting it iddle for about 10 minutes, I was going to go tell him to either get the **** outta here or stop the car. He took off when he saw me comming. I just wagged my finger at him letting him know this mother ****er is " On Notice" as Steven Colbert says.

Suggestions to deal with him before I put a board under his tires with nails or something more drastic. And to top it off he`s one of those hip hop assholes who stands outside smoking a cigarette talking of his cell and pacing around like he`s some big gangsta! He is youtube material.

We have an idling by law where I live....2-3 minutes tops. Put a banana in his exhaust pipe, it will stall :)

That`s step one.

Relax you say Holi! I`m no tree hugger but that is just inconsiderate to the environment. Plus he has a friend who comes over and has a car just like his. So when they take off there is 2 cars running for 20 minutes outside that rattle the street I`d say a good 3-4 houses down each way both sides. That`s about 12 people they`re bothering. Maybe you can come up with some smart ass things for me to say to him?

I would find some road kill and put it on his car and be there when he comes out to start it.....kidding......sort of

There is a bylaw like Mr O said.

You definately need to learn more about cars Ritch, you're a guy it's part of your manhood :D

^^^^

Like this idea Ritch.... a little Tony Soprano.... Can't really get in trouble for that...

As for the turbo... it probably does need a couple minutes to warm up... many do... especially with alot of aftermarket work.... but def doesn't need 20 mins... 5 should do at most.... go with the road kill!!!

Turbo or not, the reason it makes so much noise is because the exhaust has been modded. And yes his claim it needs to warmup for 20 minutes is BS.

I`m liking the road kill idea. That could be step 2 after the banana in the exhaust. Very productive thread so far.

.... oh... and if it's a modded civic, or something like that, just take a huge shit and smear it on his door handle... rice rocket cars are gay and very 8 or 9 years ago...

Bananas are childs play. If you really want to mess with him get a can of expansion foam and fill his muffler.

... wtf I think he got his shit confused, some turboed cars need to be idled AFTER running on boost to keep the oil flowing to cool the turbos I don't see any benefit to warming up a car for more than 2-3min and I own an FD rx7 probably the most temperamental boosted car possible.

Just tell him directly that its annoying you and your family and you want him to stop, vandalizing the guys car is just likely to cause escalation.

There`s step 3 for now, that`s pretty good!

He does let it iddle when he gets home for a few minutes. Before I go on to pranks, beleive me, I will talk to him in a very direct way, and will do so several times just to be fair. I mean he will most likely know it`s me after all... But still a fun thread!

in quebec there're laws against leaving a car idle for more than 3 mins. check your province's laws, maybe you could get him fined :D

That would be the most logical way to approach this.

you got that right, after using a turbo car you need to let it cool down before shutting it off or else you will fry the turbo because of the heat.

never by a turbo used unless the previous driver knew what they were doing.

so ritch tell him leting his car idle for that long will cause more problems down the road. thats not a lie. you want to let your car idle for a few minutes then drive it, dont drive it like you stole it, but take it easy until your engine is warmed up. thats the best way to warm up your engine.

i used to have a duramax, and if anyone told me i could only let a diesel warm up once its sat all night in -35 for 3 minutes, id tell them they can pay for the damages then.

There is no way you can take off in a diesel after 2-3 minutes if its been sitting in the cold all night, thats just absolutely retarded.

now i doubt this kids cars a diesel, but if it is, there is some leanway for him. 20 minutes is a bit extreme, but youd never see me giving it less then 10.

it barely even reaches high idle in 10 minutes

i have a trailblazer now though (gas obviously) and i can let it warm up for a few minutes and the heat gauges will already be normal before im even backed out onto the street

i remember reading that fuel injected cars dont need more than 30 seconds to a minute to warm up.....i dunno if this applies to turbos.....sounds like BS

I drive a diesel and I idle as I see fit. If someone is bothered I will try to appease by keeping it to a minimum. That being said... I am not a sideways hat wearing faggoty assed g-unit. I would intimidate him.

Then shit gets real and g-unit gets grabbed and duct taped to a tree 200km north of slave lake for a week to think about his life choices.

I had the same problems with some loser on our street. Would let teh car rumble for hours, not minutes. One night someone took a bat to his car and slashed his tires. I'm sure people saw but no one did anything. They were happy. He had a hummer and it would stink up the whole area and made me noxious a few times. I still don't get why he would make it run for hiurs even when gas was 1.30.

He never even parked it on teh street aftert that. He would leave it in the garage,

Great stuff!!\

Just over this weekend, I was talking to a guy who was telling about the turbo in his 240 nissan---modified all the way of course.
He was explaining about the turbo start-up time and the cool down time.
In Quebec there are by laws, one of these by-laws is that a person cannot leave their car in idle for more than 3 minutes, or else......well unless there is a cop timing your ass, then he will give you a ticket. Does it happen often? Not sure, probably not.

Damage to private property is an illegal act fellas....I'd say track down his girlfriend and **** her 3 times, problem solved.

I`m just going to talk to him one last time and tell him if he dosnen`t stop, I will get the police involved. If that dosen`t work, I have some good ideas from this thread. But I basically know I could do what I want to that car and nobody would say a word like cdnsoldier was saying.

if you really want to fix captain g unit, wait til he comes home at 6 in the morning, dog tired or drunk, and go apeshit on his ass. A verbal barrage when he is least expecting it, will be more effective then when he is wide awake and in "tough guy" mode. A little brown pillow in his pants from fear will do him good.
