OMG what an experience.

Ok, so some of you may know that I am a Junior Sous Chef with an undergrad honor bach in finance....anyhow I absolutely love the restaurant industry.

4 days ago, I was cleaning a meat slicer---the blade was secure, machine unplugged....I am cleaning it, I go and expose the blade itself being completely aware of the situation.

And then I see the blade go right through my index a 1 x 1 inch of skin is exposed, the blade came out.....blood started running real quick.
At this point my goal was to keep the freaking piece of finger on me :( I apply pressure.....I was so embarrassed---so much blood.

Anyhow I went into a clinic, doctor did not want to add on stitches.
Here I am now----taking 4-5 days off from work:tu

I have not felt any pain, but a lot of thorabbing.
I am going to have the doctor check it again this afternoon.

I got to hang out with my new girlfriend the last 3 days, so there is something:greet

That sucks to hear man. I worked for years in the industry and it always sucks when it happens. I can't even remember the number of times I got cut or burn or saw someone have it happen. Eventually my hands got so tough I could flip steaks with my figures if I wanted to, not that I would recommend it.

Worse that ever happened to me was some dumb **** I guess was using the deep fryer to make nachos chips and instead of putting the fry racks somewhere safe the placed them on the grill. After they were done they put the fry rack back. I didn't know this and I needed to cook something with the fryer and when I grabbed the fry rack from the fryer it burned my hand really bad.

Not funny btj. My daughter works in very high end places in Orlando.
She says that alot of the chefs are missing fingers or some of one.

I'll bring meals to you on Mondays and Wed. Maybe we can trade services.

You shit head...be more careful.

:( I am wearing this little finger brace...it's plastic and has pore-like holes to allow air circulation.
For sure I lost a small size piece of finger lol no it does not show---but my finger print will change its form :D
I have felt NO pain whatsoever...just tons of blood loss however.

A very good friend of mine, who was a red seal, lost her thumb right before my eyes---it was her mistake and she always admitted---an accident of course.
I saw so much blood, but this chick did not shed a single tear--she was pissed off, yeah can you imagine a chick who looses a finger does not cry, but gets angry.
I was so disappointed at myself, but I have learned that this things happen.
I too have seen, worked with chefs that carry "battle" scars for life.--yes most are finger related :D

Feline ;) meals hu? WOW how lucky can a guy be, to have a home cooked meal by you?
You're a sweety! MUAWCK!!!

The last close call i had with my finger was when I was like 10 years old ****ing around with a pocket knife. I tried to slash the tires on one of those sky lift machines and the knife folded back in and took a nice chunk outta my thumb. Learned my lesson...
