WAY to long of a story.. but the gist is..

drove 3hrs to find "the deal"... and the $3000 cheaper car, while mechanically sound..was beat the hell up!!!, not sure if i could deal with it even tho
" we will buff out scratches and the dents will be gone" ect.. but i bet over 30 big rock chips on the hood...repaint for sure... and the inside STUNK LIKE HELL.. like a million of those cinnamon hearts...yuk..covering something up..

went to honda dealer, and that one was IMMACULATE!!, only the 4 cyl..so im giving up, the rims i want, dual exhaust appearance...BUT an 05 with 54000km..and full service records...tires rotated and everything.

now, if i didnt have a screaming kid and wife i would of tried and low ball for this one, since i knew he was going to give it to my friend at my honda dealer for $15800 (so he says..lol), so i was wanted to offer $14000 and work up, but even then i would have to drive back up and get it..this way i will pay $16800 from my guy, and it is 2mins away and i can go back on him if problems arise.. pay for convienence i guess..

so atleast having driving to toronto, i now know that I didnt miss out on a great deal, had I just had my friend bring in the car originally....

its true i guess..
you get what u pay for and
if it seems to good to be true, it usually is..

Big time. I had atleast 5 cars in the shop this summer that were US bought Ebay specials. Most of them total turds. Either bondo-ed up & just mechanically crap.

Personally, I stick to Honda or Toyota & always, always, always, take a friend who knows a little about cars & get a devils advocate 2nd opinion. Have them pick the car apart in every aspect.

yep, and if you pay the premium at the honda or toyota lot...they should atleast stand behind there product... if i wheel in there weeks later and say "what the hell"...well, did u buy it here?, no i save $6000 elsewhere.... "HERES YOUR SIGN"!....lmao

Typically, and it's no guarantee, a new car dealer will only sell decent used vehicles because they don't want/need the publicity.

I've spent 15 years in this business & can pick apart a car in seconds. Things like misaligned body panels, crunched radiator supports & fender aprons can't be easily spotted by joe schmoe.

I once spent a month looking for a car for my brother in law & eventually got him a 1999 Civic Si, 72,000kms, orig owner, never wrecked, never painted, minty. He had it for about 5 months & it got stolen & trashed. Sigh.

fack, my friend just called me... the car proof is clean, but when he ran it it hada $1600 claim, but no info?? hes looking into it...$1600 could be a bumper or that spotless hood i was admiriing...lol, i thought i checked it for VIN tags??

the one thing i noticed with this one (4cyl), is at idle the steering wheel had a "slight" vibration feel to it...not sure if thats a biggy or not..

a little bit of vibration could be normal, best bet would be to test drive another similar model & see how it behaves

$1600 isn't much, could be a hood, could be anything really.

Does it have a clean title? ie. does it say 'salvage' or 'previous total loss' or anything like that?
