with mod selection coming up and the idea of mods rotating etc etc...

I was thinking the possibility of the mods having a separate account WITHOUT their name attached to it:

eg: Moderator 20
Moderator 35

to keep flaming/hate etc. down when the mods step back down to their role as posters. Since the mod position is exactly that, to moderate, why do they need their name attached to it? credibility? I don't know. Just throwing the idea out there.

Good that you come forth with some of your ideas and such, our world is what it is today because of suggestions....

The criteria that fills the moderator position on any site is very diverse and in depth.

I will quickly just reply to your post however: A modertor roll type of position is based on how connected and or the ability to network successfully within the site and various others.
A position that is based on personality and respect from both the members towards and from the mod to the members.
Hiding behind a differant than the posting handle may inabilitate the persons persona. (UKranian said it perfectly!!!)

ADMINS normally have a diff handle...:D :D

I don't want to be a parent 24/7. Neither does a a mod want to be seen as one.

I think many of our regular members spot crap on here but are afraid of the hate that a mod would receive because they call it out.

but thats what being a mod is all about. A thankless and unpaid position. But one volunteers to do it for the "greater good"

Having a 2nd account would and could only create suspision and lose trust imo..
