Whether it was an abscess, sterile or by bacteria, how did you handle it?

I've had some major whoppers before but always keep some Keflex on hand just in case and I think thats what has saved me those times. I'll take that for a few days and the infection always clears. So never had one turn into an abcess yet...knock on wood.

I remember this, he showed my rep a pic of his shoulder, and i was able to see a long time ago, not sure which lab, but know it was winny. My rep said, lol to be carefull with shots in same spot or can happen, but thinks winny was manybe garbage, not lab but the raw only. Hard to tell, that pic of his was big That dude looked big also. Was surprised he used winny as i thought was more for cutting and he was so big.

Man I've had the same thing.... my lower back was swollen right up, pretty freaky.

It happened on my first shot like a year and a half ago, then again late 2007 really bad... my friend could put his hand around the swollen spot on my lower back, the tops of my ass cheeks were swollen, the actual site was sore as hell.

That was some rough t400, after that I got smart and started heating it up before shots and no problems

I think it's bad to say, but I agree as well.

My buddy did a first shot in his shoulder, I'm not sure how much but I bet way too much and it got swollen up and bruised, he stopped the cycle right off and still hasn't done a cycle

Swelling up? Bruising, well maybe? I'm not sure that all of these are signs of infection really. Maybe a sensitivity or muscular damage is more likely in some cases.

The following warning signs can indicate an infection:

* Drainage is any liquid coming out of the wound or through intact skin. An increased quantity of drainage, changes in color, or changes in smell are of concern.
* Pain can indicate worsening infection, particularly if it increases suddenly.
* Redness or darkening of the skin surrounding the wound.
* Warmth of the skin surrounding the wound
* Swelling around the wound site
* New breaks in the skin
* Increase in the size of the wound
* Bad smell
* Fever
* Feeling 'unwell,' like when you have the flu

I did over 100 shots so far, with 5 different labs, and not a single infection. Funny thing is that I did inject the same batch as a guy who had an infection with his, which leads me to believe that many of these abscess/infections are in fact an operator error.

Its hard to tell sometimes.. I have had some serious BAD shots.. Those cripplers, that swell, turn red, are warm and even make me feel like I have the Test Flu.. Is this an infection ? I don't think so, I think its the bodies mechanism of "attacking" a foreign intruder... REAL infections are pretty rare if you following sanitary practices, and of course your gear isn't from the swamp

Just under 15 cycles so far and no infection. Once in a while I get minor swelling/pain but I think it's more related to getting a bad shot.

It wasn't from bad winny - he just didn't go deep enough with his shot. I'll try to find the link....

He's asked to keep the pic on Nexus so let's respect his request. Don't post it here.

+1

I've used several UG labs, almost always injected in the same spots (quad), never had an infection. Some tenderness, some scar tissue, no infections.

Cleanliness, cleanliness, cleanliness.

Pretty simple;

Remove alcohol pad, wipe vial, wipe leg, draw, change needle, re-wipe leg, shoot.

I sometimes get super red and pain for a few days, but more irritation.
No infection yet, but it could happen.

Having Keflex on hand seems like a good idea. Although I notice Keflex is no longer available in Canada. Does anyone know why and what it was replaced with?

Seems to me that having antibiotics available in case of infection could be a very good thing although I'm not as sure that it would stop abscesses. They seem pretty darn aggressive once they take hold.

Anyone here with the medical background to answer this?

I had an infection from Winny back in 1991. The Winny was fine but I wasn't swabbing at all (duh). I ended up in the Ottawa Civic and getting it sliced open . The doctor said he estimated that 200 cc's of puss and blood came out. One of the residents had to leave the room when the puss started to run down the small of my back all over the gurney. I bent the bed rails because of the pain when he cut into my right glute, even after freezing the area (it wasn't) . I was told if the infection had of gone any deeper it would have been on the bone and I could have gone septic. I stayed there for 4 days with an IV and a tube running out my glute. After being discharged I had the VON come daily for another 6 weeks to clean it out . There is still a scar and part of my glute is missing. Dumbest ****ing thing I've ever done and I've done many dumb things.
