Okay, so I've always treated arms as one bodypart. I do at most 12 total sets per workout 6bis/6tris and possibly some forearm movements; like I would treat legs as one bodypart, doing squats, then adding in some hamstring/quad movements.

However,Iseem to notice alot of people that treat arms differently - on arm day they would treat bis/tris as seperate and distinct and do 8+ workouts for each muscle. 16-24 sets total I've seen. I've seen this as excessive, as I've obtained reasonable results with arm development.

Although, I have pondered that with just about any other muscle group, compound movements are possible. There is no real compound exercise equivalent to arms - we can't work both bis n' tris out (assuming proper form) in one movement, can we? Perhaps I am wrong?

What about you all, what do you tend to do?

Treat as one or distinct on arm day?

Or do you train them on seperate days, doing around 10+ sets?

Let's hear.

I train arms on their own day as follows;
Incline alternate curl pyramid weight up then 1x8-10, 1x6-8, 1x810
One arm preacher 3-4 sets x 8-10 reps
one arm cable concentration 3x 12-15
alternate hammer3x10-12
Overhead rope extensions pyramid weight up to max then strip set
one arm DB extension across chest 3x10-12
one arm pushdowns 3x12-15

This is one of 4 arm workouts I rotate every 4 weeks. In a 16 week period I will spend two different 4 week intervals focusing on compound movements like stright bar curls, close grip bench.

I use to train them seperately, combining with other body parts and do about 12 -16 set each. It was to excessive even though I have huge arms, I now train them together with a total of 12 sets.

I train arms on their own at the end of the week. Last of my priorities. I also do them at the end because I hate having sore biceps when training back, or sore triceps when training chest or shoulders. This way they don't effect any other workouts. I do 4 exercises for tri's, 3 for bi's, and occasionally stick some forearms in there but not often. So normally 23-24 total sets including warmups for arms.
