I believe Hugo Girard won the overall. Yes, this is the strongman competitor for those who know him from that field.

I wasn't there, just saw a couple pics...but I truly think he shouldn't have won the overall. couple more symmetrical and conditioned guys there in the overall line up that I personally would have picked. But I think that the whole show would have been centered around Hugo. I mean, the guy is a legend, and he really looked quite good up there - so hard to compete against that for the other guys.

It is not official yet, soon will be. But the Heavyweight has been given the overall (im assuming there was something that went down after the finals)

here is a video from the overall (you will have to log into a facebook account to view it) http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=503291216#!/photo.php?v=268303336590218

I was there Steve and your are right!
The guy who won the Heavy's or light heavy should have won the overall.
Yes Hugo was huge, standing at 298lb he look like a beast BUT i he didnt had what it take to won the overall.
From a point of view of a bodybuilder this was a shitty call but from the point of view of the regular folks that don't know anything about BB he was the clear winner.
The fact that Hugo did a BB show was good for the sport, it was the first time i saw reporter from the news paper and news broadcast covering a BB show.
Also there was 2000$ cash prize for the overall winner and Hugo gave it to a charity(Hospital in Quebec) this too make him and the sport look good.

PS. He was the show's organizer....
This shouldn't be allowed.
You either organize the show or you compete in that show but you can't do both!

Completely agree...not the overall winner by far! Great for the money to go to a charity but it sends the wrong message with such judging. Plus he may have had a legit chance at the overall if he was in shape...he would have looked sick at about 20lbs less...would have been alot more detail.

The APQ just announced there was an error in the overall winner. It was announced Hugo Girard was the winner but the announcer only had the # of the winner in front of him and thought the number belonged to Hugo. The overall winner was #99 and the competitor name is Alric Franklin.

Here is the announcement. Congrats Alric.

they should fire the announcer. how the hell are you going to 'assume' which number belongs to which competitor. show was rigged and its apparent. they should not allow any competitor to compete in the own show that he is himself promoting!! that is ridiculous. i am glad the real overall was named.

congrats to alric and shame on hugo girard

First time I have seen a super-heavyweight class at a local QC show, that is odd, wonder why they did that?...

Hugo has enough mass to compete on ANY level of bodybuilding however he was about 6 weeks out from being truly contest shredded. He will most likely do the QC provincials and he has a big ego so I can't see him compete there out of shape, that show should be good.

It's hard to tell how his symmetry is until he really dials it in.

Many times an ego is your own worst enemy...especially in BB where everyone wants to weigh in the heaviest despite their condition.

Great first post. Yes, shame on Hugo for bringing some attention to a show that few know about and shame on him for giving the money to charity. He ought to rot in hell for his crimes.
