If you worked for me you or anyone else would have no problems at all as long as you did your job effectively and efficiently. I would reward those with good work ethic with consistent raises and other forms of compensation. If you dont do your job then I would reprimand or fire you (barring extenuating circumstances). Seems logical to me no?

So ya, I guess if you have a work ethic like Bam and you want to be a lazy piece of shit floating through life wishing you could just hunt and gather and trade berries and horses for girls, you should probably just continue voting NDP and wait until we are all paid in food (except amazing politicians like Layton who bikes to work to show his support for the environment, but has his BRIEFCASE privately chauffeured around in a limo, he deserves to be payed in LEAR DORRALS LOL)

Pipe dream. Some people would do nothing but try to look good. What do you actually know about his work ethic?

A reminder of the past.

It's a reminder of just how bad things were.Likely got passed down for quite some time. You never met anybody that did nothing but kiss the bosses ass?And avoided most of the work when the boss was gone?Read the link for BMW,they adjusted hours. All this because a few people lost their gear.

Yeah yeah .. Its easy to say how fair and rewarding and nurturing an employer you would be, but as we have all seen here at least lately, is that you are indeed a dick and I have a hard time believing that you are only a dick here. "I'm a lazy piece of shit floating through life because I am in a union?" Need I say more?
Do I believe in a rat race mentality where everybody scrambles to kiss the boss's ass and step on other employee heads to worm my way to the top..no. I believe in having a dignified existence where I do my job but am not exploited or feel intimidated by a rogue ****head employer with an attitude like yours, or for that matter.. other employees. I also deserve to be paid a wage that is not only livable, but provides a reasonable quality of life. This is Canada, not China.

You probably smile at your postman and say Good morning, and then come on here and spout hatred about them.

Go back to China or Mexico you wet behind the ears douchebag punk. Save your judgement on society for when you are old enough to have acquired some wisdom of your own. I hope that when you are my age, they farm your job out to some Mexican or whatever country is being exploited by the capitalist juggarnaut at that point in time.

Ya, youre right. I should work less hard and expect more money. Thats how businesses should be run. Good thinking. Now I can see why youre so successful not just in the financial world, but in your personal life as well. Single, children out of wedlock, wish you lived and worked somewhere else. If only I could be more like you with REAL world experience I would be so much better off.

Nah, Im gonna plan for my future and build employable skills to make myself an asset so I dont become a daydreaming douchebag loser who wants everyone to live like a caveman. Wake the **** up and move on.

And yes I am polite to my postie because thats what decent human beings do. Do you walk around and just swear at every cop and jew you see? You have no idea how ****ing stupid and ignorant you sound almost all the time. The points you try to make to prove your arguments are beyond immature. You are what 50? Where did I ever say anything like that? Getting desperate?

Now I can see why youre so successful not just in the financial world, but in your personal life as well. Single, children out of wedlock, wish you lived and worked somewhere else. If only I could be more like you with REAL world experience I would be so much better off.

Obviously more successful than you.. I don't have to post threads about reusing vials and such like a welfare bum.
Do you want me to send you a couple of boxes of Kraft Dinner?
Where did you get the idea I was single or that my children (which are probably as old as you) were born out of wedlock? Are you going to attack single moms next and tell them how unsuccessful they are? If anyone should wake up its you. Single parent family is pretty much the norm these days. At least I had my kids before I ever touched sauce. You have probably fuct your sperm count and will end up raising a cuckold child even if your short little dick ever manages to get far enough inside a woman to count as a penis. I don't need to see your penis to know how tiny it is as every post you make pretty much screams this.

Nah, Im gonna plan for my future and build employable skills to make myself an asset so I dont become a daydreaming douchebag loser who wants everyone to live like a caveman. Wake the **** up and move on.

Hmm, queer that you think I somehow am void of employable skills or that I am somehow not an asset to my employer. For the record, most of the great people throughout history were daydreamers.
I'm pretty sure you are already a douchebag, btw.

And yes I am polite to my postie because thats what decent human beings do. Do you walk around and just swear at every cop and jew you see? You are polite to your postie because you are a two faced piece of shit and most likely a coward. You are right, I pretty much hate cops.. I don't talk to them at all or pretend to like them. With regard to Jews (not sure why you keep bringing up Jews since MP already said no Jew talk), I do not hate them. This was pointed out earlier. Maybe you are the one that needs to read more?

I am much more aware of how the world really works than you are. You are a sheep, in fact you should probably go get checked for anal cancer as you've had so much smoke blown up your ass by mainstream society that you don't have a clue wtf is going on around you.
Realistically, you are a victim. I should feel sorry for you, but I don't.

^^ exactly. I dont judge people by their job nearly as harshly as you clearly do towards yourself seeing as you are embarrassed to openly name your occupation. Are you that ashamed of yourself? Do you feel that your job dictates who you are as a person? That is rather pathetic and small minded of you sir. Regardless of your chosen career path you should take pride in it and not let it define you. For someone who likes to name call and throw around labels, you seem to do the harshest critiquing of yourself. I need not tease you about your job, and nor would I ever. I asked a simple question that even YOU cant bring yourself to answer. Thats rather unfortunate. Hopefully one day you can move past the petty labels and realize there is more to life than whatever you are doing. Clearly it makes you unhappy. Perhaps time for a career change?

PS. My guess is that you are a janitor or bus driver. Two positions openly stigmatized in modern North American culture. You feel as if this job defines you as a failure of some sort, yet it performs a vital and important task for society. I have never, nor would I ever feel the need to belittle someone about their job, until they claim themselves to be so irreplaceable that they deserve better wages than those of much higher education / skill. Hell, a farmer is a highly educated and skilled individual in the context of agricultural knowledge. Courses dont define who I am, my actions towards others, and my respect for those who deserve it does. You really need to grow up dude. For an older gentleman, you dont seem to have your shit together at all.

Isn't it odd since Canada Post is an enterprise owned by the federal government that the federal government is able to force CP employees back to work with legislation thereby bypassing collective bargaining? and if the union defies this they get massively fined?

I guess I don't see the fairness in government intervention when they are in fact the employer itself. Essentially it was the government that locked them out in the first place. Anyway, I am pretty green about this and have not spent any time looking into it so forgive me if I am missing something. Perhaps someone could explain why this is not a conflict of interest?

Whatever % the workers were ripped off for, they should start losing that % of the 'government related' mail in their bag to an incinerator or at the least go back to work under a complete work slowdown until the next round of bargaining. Time for some new tactics IMHO. Fair is Fair right?

Finally, this has been the most annoying couple weeks, I have things ordered and I'm waiting for it to be sent, stuff stuck in the mail, and I had to pay a courier pricing for other things. Really pissed off, I'm glad they were legislated back to work!! Canada Post is a dying animal, and the employees need to be grateful that they even have a job, let alone one that pays them so much to do the same thing a gas station attendant is doing

I don't think I actually agreed that the 17% number was necessarily accurate though.

I guess I am asking where you got that number from? Most employers at bargaining time love to fudge numbers and cry broke.

Btw, I am not against an employer downsizing due to lack of demand for their services. Obviously an employer should be able to dictate the size of its workforce.

But.. Employers should not be allowed to subcontract outside the bargaining unit or replace full time employees with part time employees when they re-hire, unless those part time employees get to enjoy the same benefit package as the the full timers.

Your logic is flawed and you'll find any excuse to hold your thought process.

How about you go find proof that CP market demand has increased as you seem to suggest it has.

You probably also think that from 2005-2008 that auto sales were at their all time high and that GM, Ford amd Chruysler were simply cooking the books in effort to screw over the union?
I don't think I actually agreed that the 17% number was accurate though. Homes being build, people being born, immigration, people living longer, more junkmail delivered by CP. That all adds up to more mail.

Accurate statement but again zero realistic applicability to modern or historical relevance. There is never a complete disconnect of government from any type of advanced commerce. If you want to think back to bartering, or the basic marketplace of pre industrialization, then yes maybe there is a point, but this will never happen again so it is moot at best.

We elect our governments to assess these situations.Obviously we have some gov types that have to be trimmed, how the Harper gov is going to handle this is the tricky part. Some people have not yet realized just what the NDP has morphed into and the kind of base they may be able to rely upon,Quebec voting as a block, and young people with more social networking tools then ever, not to mention the evil CBC screaming murder.Politics is a funny and unpredictable game, likely they want to take it easy this early. This execution would be too public.

Again, obviously new tactics are necessary for unions these days. They should certainly only stick to their job description and cease doing anything outside of that and slow down about 20% until the next negotiations. Give em 7 hours of real work instead of 8 ;) Take your increase one way or another.

I think this would only hasten the death.CP is heavily monitored,I think we have other departments that are the real slackers.

I got all my cheques from clients. I used fedex to pick up at my clients offices.

Once i heard that they were pote tially going to strike in late April i put temporary measures in place ahead of time to ensure timely delivery.

It's ashame that others dont have the fortitude of free thinking to plan ahead for scenarios which could affect their income.

I pick up major cheques. It's the day to day mail and such that would be a hassle.I like to see my bills before I pay them. Some things such as city taxes and life insurance are automatic withdrawal.
