A US cage fighter ripped out the heart of his training partner while he was still alive after becoming convinced he was possessed by the devil.

Jarrod Wyatt also cut out his friend's tongue and ripped off most of his face in a brutal assault that police said looked like a scene from a horror film.
They found the 26 year old standing naked over his friend's body with body parts, including an eyeball, strewn around the blood splattered room.

Wyatt told police he had drunk a cup of tea spiked with hallucinogenic mushrooms and became convinced his close friend Taylor Powell was possessed.
According to an autopsy Powell,21, bled to death after his heart was ripped out.
The coroner said Powell had been alive when the organ was ripped out after his chest had been sliced open with a knife.
Wyatt told the police he thrown the heart into a fire along with other organs that he had removed from the body.
He told investigators he cooked the body parts because he was fearful Powell was still alive and he "needed to stop the Devil."
Police had been called to the grisly scene after a third friend had witnessed a sudden mood change in Wyatt after they had all ingested wild mushroom tea.
Justin Davis told police he returned to the flat in Klamath, California, to find Wyatt naked and covered from head to toe in blood.
He noticed an eyeball lying in the middle of the floor and saw Powell's mutilated body.
A lawyer representing Wyatt has claimed the wild mushrooms caused him to act in such a violent way and had not control over his actions "My client was trying to silence the devil," said James Fallman.
"I think he was having a psychotic fit based on the mushrooms he had."
Wyatt has been charged with first degree murder and torture.
Prosecutors added the torture charge as Powell was still alive when his heart was removed.

This is very similar to the incident that happened outside of Portage La Prarie, MB 2 years ago. Vincent Lee stabbed to death Tim Mclean and then ate some of his heart and cut his head off. Lee also said that Mclean was the devil and the only way to stop him was by removing the head. Lee is a diagnosed Schzio, he just didint take his meds for some time before the incident on that Greyhound Bus. The most disgusting fact was that Lee is gonna do some time in Selkirk Mental Ward and then when doctors think he is okay, he will be released into the public.

The lawyer is going to have an impossible time proving that his client is incompetent as the result of drugs especially if there is a death sentence in the state involved.
In canada a psychiatric patient can be held indefinitely and there is no death sentence. The psycho who cut the poor kid's head off will not ever be released into the public with the incompetent verdict. Had he been found competent he would probably live long enough to be eligible for parole.

Why would you say something like that? Are you suggesting that he isn't mentally ill, but just malingering? Are you suggesting that he has manipulated all the medical assessments over the years with his malingering? Are you suggesting that he faked mental illness for many years so he could one day murder someone and thereby get a "slap on the wrist"? What exactly are you saying anyway? That the mentally ill should be held to the same level of culpability as those who are completely sane? If so, please explain your rationale.:rolleyes:

There are some really dumb comments in this thread.
People you are allowed to have your opinions but you should use some common sense before expressing them.
Some guys here are not a bit better than this person that did this horrendous thing at least he is totally ****ed in the head and took some serious crap on top of it, you are just sadistic monsters...

I'd make those people to work for their food.
There is a balance between punishment and idiocy that should be kept. I don't believe that for a second a person that is dangerous to society should be out and free. But I don't believe that someone that is mentally ill should be punished like a regular criminal.
In both cases the person should be behind bars working for his meals like we do.
When someone looks at this case and can't see anything abnormal on it and looks of revenge and blood instead of the protection of society from someone that is ill (momentarily or not) I believe that that person has a really ****ed up believe system and strange values

If a doctor tells me to take my meds because I am sick, then I listen. I dont wait to see what will happen because by then side effects and symptoms might kick in from the sick/ailment/disease etc. And if by chance this happens and I dont go seek medical help ASAP, then I guess I am to blame for those actions leading to such decline in health.

Your attempt to compare the thought processes between someone who is mentally ill and someone who is not is simply silly. You speak as if the meds for paranoid schizophrenia are some type of cure all that completely remedy the affliction. If you knew anything about mental illness you would know that the meds for such maladies have terrible side effects and that the rationalization of stopping meds by those who are mentally ill is part of the illness itself.
Your posts are starting to remind me of dremen. Take some time to educate yourself before you comment.

I know a guy who is Bi-Polar, and the meds he takes makes him sleep for about 15 hours a day. And when he is awake, he is basically only half awake and not really capable of doing anything meaningful because of the shitty sides.
So what eventually happens every time is he stops taking his meds, and he starts a slow decline into total insanity. At which point the RCMP have to show up in force and drag him to the Mental Hospital.
The disease is the disease, and the sides from the drugs are almost as bad.
Sides are from the drugs, not the illness.
For what its worth too.... I've met some pretty crazy people in my life, and almost 100% of them didn't know that they were crazy. Charlie fing manson thinks everyone else is crazy, and that he's not.
Think about it lol.
