I'm learning all sorts of new things about anatomy lately :)

I've got my tendonitis in the suprapinatus tendon of my left shoulder on the mend and got a fair bit of mobility back.

Now I've got an ache in either the Infraspinitus or Teres Minor at the origin/scapula.
I'm thinking very minor muscle strain from a combination of being tight and the new accessory exercises I'm doing with the Wendler 531 Triumvirate program.

Awkward location. I can get at it with a foam roller and I can lie on an ice pack but compression/ice is pretty darn awkward. I'm reading there is some kind of trigger point along where I'm feeling the ache.

Does anyone have some experience first aiding this one?

i would do some scapula depression exercises & stretch the shoulder internally and externally before the exercises

I need to learn the spellings of the nice new achy muscles, infraspinAtus. Definitely not tereS minor.

Off to go look up scapula depression exercises. I need to find a tennis ball and some kind of hooked stick for massage.

I've been stretching (light and easy) and warming up the supraspinitus pre-workout but pretty much ignoring the other rotater cuff muscles. (oops).

http://www.theracane.com/ check those products on ebay.

One very good scapula depression exercises is the face pull, but you have to do the the scapula depression before each rep.

rotator cuff ex's = very improtant for long term shoulder health of anyone who lifts weights. Not the most glamorous or powerfull movements, but will keep your bench strong for long!

use the lat pull down and stretch and let your shoulders come up then, like doing a reverse shrug, just use your shoulder blades to pull the weight down (keep arms straight) repeat for reps...enjoy the stretch AND the squeeze of the muscle...that would be scapular depression

( ps... Ms Moneypenny is a certified Athletic therapist, so she actually knows what she's talking about)
AND if your injury is worse and needs treatment, she is liscenced to bill MPIC, Bluecross and other insurance providers!

Thanks for the help guys/gals, I'm actually getting better rather than worse and I think I caught it before it went chronic for a change.

I'm kind of hoping once I get the shoulder and hips working that it will let me hit some serious pr's this year. While I "look" a lot stronger this year than last the little muscles that aren't so showy are the things that seem to be holding me back right now.
