About a week and a half ago I trained chest. My first exercise was flat bench with the db's. I did my first set with the 100's. I pressed 12 reps and put the dbs back. Not being aware of how I placed the db's on the rack... I placed the one db on the rack on an angle not completely clipping on to the back metal stopper. With my second set grabbing the 110's that are sitting right beside the 100's... and because of the movement of the rack while grabbing the 110 db's... The one 100 pound db falls flat on my foot. While having both 110 dbs in my hands, I had no time to react. Anyways.... The feeling it gave me.. I felt like throwing up. I sat down emmediately and saw that the blood vessels in my foot exploded leaving blue all over at the surface of my skin\foot.

I'm not the type to complain about pain, so, going up to the Hospital was not my first plan of action. I wanted to get a few people's opinions before seeking professional help. Some people said "it's just badly bruised, you'll be ok" to "You popped the blood vessels in your foot, it looks worse than it really is" to "Dood, go to the Hospital right now"....

A week passed by and I was still going to the gym and I was still doing cardio suprisingly on the cross trainer...I was still going to work.. All of this while limping... dragging my foot.. hopping around from the escrusiating pain..

I went up to the emerge 2 days ago and after 5 hours of waiting for the results of my x-ray.. The Doctor diagnosed me with a broken foot. Where are the broken and crushed bones? The centre of my foot. Soooooo..... Now I am wearing a cast up to my knee cap for 6 weeks... Than! I have to wear this blue boot for another 2 weeks. It's been two days... My arm pits hurt from the crutches. I've already fallen twice.. First time I was moving to fast.. 2nd time, I was trying to carry my coffee in from the truck to the house..... And! my other foot is in pain from the hopping around I do and the weight I'm supporting with one foot.

I am a dumb bell.

That sucks. And crutches are a bitch. I was surprised how much they hurt your armpits and how your hands and triceps get sore when you move around with them. I almost fell down the stairs once. You have to take your time. Hopefully you have someone to help you with your cooking and stuff. I remember just doing dishes was an absolute pain.

I think everybody should spend a day in a wheelchair or in crutches just to see what it`s like.

100's dumbbells are usually on the lower rack to prevent such injuries.
Good luck on recovery.

Thanks guys....

I'm glad i made a few people smile with this careless incident.

Last Monday coming home after reporting my injury to my boss.... One of my crutches flew out of the back of my truck and landed somewhere off the highway's ditch. I only found this out when I got home... Later, a friend and I spent a good hour looking for my one crutch off the highway. No luck. Anyways, instead of waiting at the Hospital and paying another 25$ for a pair of crutches, I am using one crutch and a cain. My arm pits hurt, and my hopping leg hurts. It takes me about 40 minutes to get ready in the morning. I am restricted to the main floor of my house. I sigh waking up in the morning and going to sleep at night only for the reason that I have to climb up and down a flight of stairs. I do have some help around the house and I do give her lots of praise for putting up with me...... 5 more weeks.

sorry to here that's a shitty situation your in , but it is quite funny.

crutches shouldn't hurt your harm pit, you probably have them to high. you dont want your arm pit supporting your weight, all your weight should be on your arm/elbow if that makes any sense ?

Shit.... You spent 9 weeks on crutches!?

I just survived week 3. I'm getting pretty good at meneuvering, going down stairs, even putting my shoe on while hopping. Even hopping without spilling my cup of coffee.

In all seriousness, I don't know how much longer I can go on like this.
E.I. is not providing me enough money. Work is putting pressure on me to return early. I had my foot x-rayed and i'll be on crutches for another month the Dr. predicts.
My life has slowed down 110%.
