What does the community think of having members register with multiple handles?

I originally thought it was ok in case someone wanted to post with their real name and then wanted to post an AAS question anonymously. They create a different handle and post in there.

But I'm catching members doing it with 8-10 members under 1 ip and then under each one of those members, they have other ip's that match other handles. It looks like only a handful of guys are doing this.

How do you think I should handle this situation as I never had anyone abuse the registration this bad. Why someone would do this is beyond me.

I saw some other boards post the multiple accounts per IP public and then the person could answer for it. It could be a couple brothers, or a couple friends, or a scammer or a troll...

It creates the added work for mods/admin to cross check ip's when spammers/idiots start pissing about.

I'm more of a fan of removing porn/cursing/sexist behavior from the site altogether than I am of trying to police ip's. I find myself preferring Iron Addict, Intense Muscle, StartStrength/StrengthMill where these behaviors are simply not tolerated and content is 99% lifting related.

I generally hit the New Posts button as a way of seeing what happening and for the last month or two the majority of the posts are porn or sexist postings of one type or another.

It was entertaining when it was well under 1 post in 10 but when it's 8 posts in 10 it makes weeding through for content a lot less fun and like vandalism and graffiti it seems to snowball.


I really hope the new year brings everyone back into focus.

^No Cog. Most ISPS charge for true static IPS or you'd need a business account. You are dynamic but there is a long lease time usually because ISPS now bind your IP to your MAC address of the first device past the modem. So technically you might get the same IP for a while but it can change. You can make it change by switching network cards, or if you have a router clone a different MAC address into the router. :)

But really that's the simplicit foundation of this place; Bodybuilding... why we all joined. Not just to facilitate hate and bicker or to watch porn. There's millions of other places for that...

I like this place, I love being with my own knowing that I'm not the only one who does these quarky things, or goes to such limits or encounters certain feelings... but if I want an atmosphere of narcissistic immature delinquents I'll spend a day at juvi, and take the rest of the time to watch Days of our lives. It amazes me how people continually grow older but remain so blind and never grow up.

I used to run a vbulliten based forum, it was a first/last name forum, and all ID's were verified but people still had the same IP's sometimes.

I dont really see the problem (you can check, i dont have multiple accounts) this site is anonomous for most people and if they're going to be dicks, they are going to be dicks. Its not like "rocco" is scared to soil his online, false identity.

I think you'd be ****ed either way legally if you're trying to hide behind a different account.... it's not exactly hiding from someone that has the means to get your IP. But I guess it would work to fool everyone else.

I think its OLM that has a section that outs multiple accounts. The system automatically puts out both the original name and the new one in the multiple account section...... And sometimes the guys tripping the system have an ulterior motive besides just doing it for kicks.....

In light of some of the things that went down this year, I think a similar system would/could be an asset to this board. Theres a lot of predators out there.

I'd say delete all the handles with lesser posts, and then contact them via pm and inform them that anymore abuse like this is not acceptable and they will be banned if continued. No need to make it a public information as many users probably have different reasons for having a second handle though most presumably not good. Perhaps if they have 5+ I would say an all together ban would be considered not a bad thing?.....
