I just bought a Lenovo S10 for $370. Solid build, fast, with 6 hour battery life.

The Asus EEE has a 10 hour battery life for about the same money. I bought the Lenovo b/c I was certain it was a quality build.

A good place to buy is Tigerdirect.ca

I have an Asus EeePC and the battery lasts 8 hours. Also has the biggest keyboard in its class.

what pdh said.

Lenovo and Asus are top notch

Lenovo have the BEST customer support. I have to repair them at work. They ship replacement parts overnight. The laptop construction is very good.

Asus are nice too. Their RMA departement is in Ontario. They repair within a week and cover physical damage.

I have the original Lenovo s10 and I can't stand it. Build quality is so-so, but the thing that bothers me most is the cpu fan; it goes on full blast almost all the time. Sounds like a damn vacuum cleaner. I never got used to the low resolution screen and tiny keyboard either.

I bought a Dell Vostro 1220 a couple months ago, which is a 12" laptop with a proper CPU. Much better overall, even though the fan is a little loud on this one as well.

Did I mention I hate loud fans?

I hate loud fans too. The MSI Wind I owned had a loud fan.. stupid thing started making clinking sounds after I opened it up to swap out the network card.

I sold that thing on eBay. Good riddance...

known problem with first gen s10. If it's still under warranty, send the netbook and they will fix it
