The more I think about this question the more I find myself leaning towards answering no.

- I don't really want to spray tan my body and get on a stage in my underwear.

- I'm not really interested in lowering my bodyfat to 3 or 4%. 8-10 is fine by me.

- I don't really see a need to maintain a high level of conditioning all the time. I kind of like the strength that comes with a little extra bulk. Not that I wouldn't mind abs it's just that I don't really care all that much other than in a sense of not becoming fat.

- I am fascinated by nutrition, supplementation, training approaches but the sport of bodybuilding isn't something that really draws me. It seems a little gay. I appreciate the accomplishments of bodybuilders and am happy to leverage their skills but it's just a little too much like a beauty pageant.

Is it just me? I'd like a great physique but powerlifting, olympic lifting and strongman seem just a tad more manly.

Maybe we can draw some sort of difference between a bodybuilder and a competitive bodybuilder??

Let's break down the word.

Body building. We're building bodies. Building musle, improving and shaping our physique. I don't think one necessarily needs to think of or refer to themselves as professional bodybuilders. Though I suppose if you uncomfortable with the idea of being mistaken for that you could just call yourself a weight lifter.

"Power-Builder".

I like this.

I like getting as strong as I can , while still maintaining a good physic.

I've done them both and I just can't get back into the competitive bodybuilding. I'm too shy of a person to be up on stage flexing.

"Power-Builder".

That's me, with an emphasis on "power". I want to be strong, but not completely doughy like some of the elite powerlifters.

"power-builder" for me as well. I find it "easier" to set poundage goals than to set size goals, if that makes any sense.

Holy shit Tira that is EXACTLY how i feel.. i think in reality we are all bodybuilders, just some are recreational and some are competitive.. i train my ass off and watch what i eat year round, as dedicated as any bber. Ive seen lots of provincial bbers and not tooting my own horn but i think my physique is better.. BUT i have no desire to compete.. i just love the training and lifestyle

I train so that I can perform better at my job. I am self employed and the faster I work the more money I make.
