I think I like the stuff - but have never taken it alone. In my Insane MG by BMF Hardcore, I get the mad skin pickies when I take it - in about 10 minutes. I believe it may be a good ingredient pre-workout... Who has some input on this?

i get the weird sensation from it too. i didnt notice much from it results wise. Citrulline Malate on the other hand is fantastic for buffering lactic acid burn. anyhoo, i basically have nothing to add to your thread so imma shut up now.

I've sometimes taken it alone, or with creatine (which are supposed to complement each other but acting in different ways). I like it quite a bit. I usually take about 2-3 grams (more than half a teaspoon) and get the tingling sensations too. If you experience 'the burn' it helps to buffer the sensation, so you can go longer before hitting the wall instead of just feeling like you want to stop short of it. I think the recommendation is to take it twice a day, which I never have but since it's usually dirt cheap when you buy it in bulk, you could with no problem (other than the feeling you have something crawling under your skin).

As a side note, I gave some to a friend who had to do a physical test involving several forms of cardio exercises and he found it to be amazing for endurance. He said he didn't get any burning or fatigue, just winded. He took more though, like a full teaspoon. I believe the tingling increases with the dose.

I use it every day. On non training days I take aprox 3g and on training days I take 6g. I use the caps , pure BA called Betta Force , by Sportlab. Here is some info on it. http://essentialsupplements.*********/apps/webstore/products/show/776607 . i've been using it for about 2 months and I didn't really notice anything ( besides the ichy skin , pin prickels ) untill after about 30 days ( give or take ) . But I have noticed my rep range has gone up ( muscle endurance ) . I'm not one to go for the big rep and I think that's why I wasn't noticeing anything , but since being on the 5/3/1 program I am able to go all out on my last set. So recently I squatted 465 for 8 reps...Never done that before .

I've basically replaced my creatine with the BA .

is it important to take beta alanine everyday or can you take it just on workout days and get the same result? what dosage you taking drummer?

That insane MG gave me the exact same feeling. Like my skin and the back of my head had skin pickies. Like pins and needles. Def not a good feeling. And out of every pre workout supp marketed in the last 5 years ive basicly used it was not up to par and i hated the feeling. Nothing made me have that weird feeling except that.

Beta A is to be taken 2x a day every day for best results. Its supposed to raise carnosine levels over a month or more.

That tingly feeling you get tells you that the dose is about right, and other stuff is usually under dosed. I think the daily dose is 5g, or maybe twice a day.

I go with 2100 mg per day ( sometimes I take that twice ) and it's working fine for me.

I would say best results are 5g twice a day. You would most likely have to work up to that dose though because of the intense pins and needles sensation you would experience if you start at this dose.

2.5g 2x/day is a good starting point.

I basically take it with my creatine at the same time with waxy maize as the delivery support carb.

I also, take some intra workout about 5grams as well...beta-alanine has a short life span when using it in order to buffer hydrogen ions so taken intra workout works well also. I also take it while playing hockey and football and I find it really helps to give you that extra edge and push. Great stuff!

The pins and needles eventually went away with time for me.

^^^ Seems like some good advice. I`m using about 5 grams a day split in 3 doses for the last 2 weeks and can`t say I feel much from it. Time to up the dose here...

Shit , I've been on it well over 2 months and I still get pins at 2100mg (2.1g) . Anything higher seems like a waste to ME.

But are you seeing results? Me I`m not sure so I`m going to take more. Stuff is pretty inexpensive anyway.

What I have noticed is that it took around even a few months to notice this...

What I notice in terms of training is increased stamina, more power/strength especially closer to the end of my workouts, I definitely notice strength increases in the higher rep ranges (around 8-12), delayed muscle fatigue, and I simply don't get burnt out as easy as I used to.

In terms of the sports, I definitely notice increased stamina and delayed muscle fatigue. The fatigue still occurs, but later than it did without it and not as bad.

I find that it's not exactly like a creatine gain you get, but more like a catalyst in lifting more and longer (so somewhat like creatine, but without the direct size, strength, and increased cell volume you will see with creatine), but as a result of the increased stamina, strength, delayed fatigue, and the buffering of by-products you'll experience gains as a result of these characteristics of beta-alanine.

you may want to try to take it at criticle points thorughout the day if you aren't all ready.

1) morning upon waking with creatine
2) before your workout
3) during your workout
4) after your workout

It has a short effective life span when used to buffer by-products (something like 45-60 min i think but can't remember) so if you're not taking it at the most effective points throughout your day you may not be utilizing it to it's fullest capabilities.

It also takes some time to realize it's full potential.

I've got a local football team and hockey team using it and they love it! :D

That`s sounds like a great plan and is what I am planing on doing. Right now I am taking 1.5 grams when I wake up with creatine, then a dose pre workout with my nootropics, the other dose was usually taken some time in the evening... Some good advice up there!

But man that stuff tingles when you take 3.5 grams!

it's kind of tasteless to be honest with you...it's actually one of the easiest tasting powders to take IMO.

I personally shotgun all the supplements I take...I get it over quick like ripping off a bandaid or I would mix it in with a protein shake so that all the powders suspend easier (especially BCAA powder).

Stuff tastes sweet, you could mix it in water. I often mix mine in a shake with nootropics and half a scoop of gatorade powder as piracetam and DMAE taste bad. But it would easily be taken with water.

I use 4G pre and 4G post workout... one of the best bang for the buck supplements out there... if anyone is near the gym I would be happy give you some free samples to try...

Beta Alanine takes time to build up carnosine levels. This is evident after 2-3 weeks, and can continue to make intracellular carnosine levels increase for 3 months before plateau. I just start the Athletic Edge stack - PreSurge, Intrabolic, and IntraXcell. There is a total of 6 grams Beta A in the stack at normal doses. Today was my first go, and I must say, it KICKS THE SHIT out of any pre/intra workout thing I have ever tried. More on this in my log im going to start. Im certain that the effective parts of this stack is the creapure, Glycocarn, Beta A, the Whey hydros., bcaa's and eaa's. But wow, I wouldnt burn out at the gym. Lets see if I sleep 2nite lol! Im still all pins and needles, its 1 hour after leaving the gym.

Note : I have taken Glycocarn alone (Jarrows) and the pump was very evident, the endurance not so much. It is illegal in Canada, perscription in the UK, and over the counter in the USA.

increased my dosages of beta-alanine of the last few days and holy shit I swear I didn't loose any strength or stamina throughout my entire workout. Hit back and bi's today and my bi's are starting to feel much stronger than you usual do after training back. Gotta be the Beta-alanine as this is my first round of it and i've taken the other supplements in the past. With that said I would say stamina and the ability to push through workout stronger is the biggest difference while supplementing with it!

I've been taking BA for about 1 1/2 months now and I love it. My stength and endurance has definatly increased. I usually take about 3gms 2x/day.

that skin itch means thats its working and can also mean that u took too much stack it with arginine and caffeine pre workout
