Dear OPA Members:
We would like to assure all of our members, promoters, and sponsors that we are pursuing our reinstatement as the affiliated provincial association of the CBBF.
Upon receiving the CBBF email of June 20, 2009, we have, on many occasions, attempted to meet with the CBBF in order resolve this matter in a professional and businesslike manner.
Unfortunately, the CBBF have been very uncooperative and have left us with no other alternative but to commence court proceedings against the CBBF and the individual representatives of the CBBF-Ontario Division.
The Statement of Claim has been issued and the OPA is seeking, among other relief:
(i) an injunction setting aside the June 20, 2009 decision of the CBBF ceasing to recognize the OPA as the affiliated provincial organization for the Province of Ontario;
(ii) an Order declaring that the OPA continues to be a member in good standing and continues to be the affiliated provincial organization of the CBBF for the province of Ontario;
(iii) $1.8 Million Dollars in damages
We are confident that the courts will provide a fair and unbiased decision in favour of the OPA and that the OPA will be the legally recognized CBBF affiliated provincial organization for the Province of Ontario.
The relief claimed will allow our athletes from the Natural Ontario’s and our other fall events to move up the tier system.
