I have been lifting for 18 years and just started Strongman training 5-6 weeks ago. I absolutely love it. It's really really fun.

The crew I train with is really cool it's a mix of French and English guys, beginners, experinced competitors, short and tall guys, big and small guys we even had a woman come out and train with us the other day.

Any one that is remotely interested should come out and try it out. First time its FREE!

After the first time it's 10$ every time you come out, no membership, no strings, you come you pay, you don't then you don't pay.

This is a not for profit thing, basically the guy in charge rents a school gym 2hrs every Saturday, the 10$ we pay goes towards paying the rent and any extra goes to buy new implements, weights, etc...

You don't even need to be really strong since we always warm up with light weights, as the training progresses it gets heavier.

Wow sounds really cool! But it would not be a good idea for me as now, I'm trying to rehabilitate my lower back, I'm using children's weight for Squats, deadlifts, rows... But I may stop by and you guys!

    Bumping this up.

I have doing Strongman style workouts for about 4 months now and I absolutely love it. I don't understand why there aren't more people interested it this.

It is ****ing awesome, nothing quite like it.

After training for so long it's nice to switch gears and make progress on a weekly basis again.

Like I said first time is free, come try it out. We have a range of different guys from very strong to just starting out, we can adjust weights for everyone.

We are looking for more guys to join us so that we can eventually start renting a warehouse and be able to train with the implements anytime we want.

Msg me or Martin at hyperforce@live.ca for details.

It's the New Year and what a time for a new challenge. We are always looking for new guys to join us with Strongman type training. We have all the equipment you might need: Logs, Axle, Stones, Sandbags, Sled, Prowler, Olympic bars, Bumper Plates, etc... You don't need to be huge and incredibly strong to get started. MSG me for details.

If you think you have to be huge and super strong to join us you are wrong. Check out these videos of our training group having fun competing at amateur Stronman contests:

The sled we use at the gym is simply a normal sled with a rubber gym mat bolted to it, cut into the sled dimension of course. The nice thing is that you don't need a ton of weight because when you add weight the rubber causes extra friction... also it's never damaged the floor.

I personally bought a sled off Kijiji for 20$ it's a good place to check. If I didn't find one I was going to make one. Here's some ideas:

I was also thinking of using a toboggan and just adding loading pins with plumbing pipes and flanges. All very cheap if you get the sleigh from Kijiji.

As far as the harness goes, I have a real harness that I don't really like, it chokes you. A chain from the hardware store you loop into a loose weight belt is my preference. Get some carabiners to attach it to your sled.
