    Why Compete? What was it that propelled you into competing?
    It’s not what I do, it’s who I am !
    When I discovered bodybulding it was me finally finding out who I was.
    I grew up riding horses. I took an apprenticeship training Arabian Show Horses upon graduating from highschool in 1982. At 19 moved to the U.S. to pursue my dream, as that’s where all the top trainers & horses were in the world. When I was in Texas I met my first husband Doug Young who was one of the greatest men in the history of the sport of Powerlifting. He was a 3 x world champion 3 x world record holder in the bench press. He’s the one who got me into the iron world. He had opened a gym I decided to go check it out with a girlfriend, when I walked in that gym it changed my lifes course. I competed Powerlifting first because Doug explained that nothing would put muscle on me faster than that. I totaled 1118 my first meet which qualified me for U.S. Nationals. My 2nd meet I won U.S. Nationals beating the reigning world champion by 92 lbs. My 3rd meet I pulled a 501 deadlift which was an unofficial world record at the time. After that I turned my focus to bodybuilding that was the end of 1991 when I hired Chris Aceto to help me get ready for my first bodybuilding competition which was Nov 1992. And 20 yrs later I’m still competing in Bodybuilding today.


    What word of advice would you give to any inspiring competitor?
    Find a GREAT COACH/MENTOR and listen to them completely,. That’ll save years off doing it on your own. Why stumble around in the dark, when you can have someone show you the way and do well, instead of wasting valuable time and money trying to do it on your own, and possibly never even achieving what you really want.



    What was your most memorable moment while competing?
    Wow thatz a tough one…. I’d have to say winning the US National Champion Powerlifter in 1991 by beating the reigning World Champion by 92 lbs and that was only my 2nd time on the Platform for a Powerlifting meet.
    Athough winning everything at the 2008 BC’s rocked, Heavywt Champ, Masters Champ, Overall Champ and Overall Best Poser with all my friends, clients and my son Storm there to cheer me on was INCREDIBLE!

    Describe the first time ever you stepped on stage. Where you nervous?

    I’m always nevous. I have had to overcome crippling stage fright. Powerlifting first helped my confidence for sure. I’ve been competing in Bodybuilding for 20 yrs now so I’m much better now.

    What does your training routine look like?
    I’m old school. Barbells and Dumbells are the tools of my trade. Simple and EFFECTIVE. I’ve tried different methods of training, but I always gravitate back to what I love and what works. I’ve trained with some of the greatest names in the sport so that gives me different points of view and different methods to use with my clients. I’ve trained under the guidance of: IFBB Pro Greg Kovacs, IFBB Pro 6 x Ms.Olympia Iris Kyle, World Renowed Trainer Dave Palumbo, IFBB Pro Carlos Rabiei, IFBB Pro Darren Toma, Bodybuilding Top Nutritionist Chris Aceto, Powerlifting Legend Doug Young 3 x World Champion Powerlifter, 3 x World Record Holder in the Bench Press & Guiness Book of World Record Holder … to name a few.


    Dieting wise, generally speaking. What type of diet do you follow or believe in?

    Healthy Balanced Meal Plans and Whole Natural Foods.
    My specialty is NUTRITION. I won’t do Personal Training without it.It’s the Key that most people miss.
    Training is just part of reaching goals, Nutrition is at least 85% of realizing them.
    WE TRULY ARE WHAT WE EAT, we eat good we look good, feel good and are healthy, we eat bad, we look bad, feel bad and are unhealthy. Its not just about how you look it’s about quality of life and longevity. Its pay me now pay me later with nutrition. Good health doesn’t cost, it pays !

    What would you say is your favorite body parts to work on?
    Back and Bis no question… I love to DEADLIFT and do Partials

    What is your weakest physical attribute?
    I don’t have one, all my weaknesses I’ve worked on a brought up over the years

    What is your strongest physical attribute?
    My heart bar none !

    After a match or competition the first thing you want to eat is?
    Peanut Butter

    The one thing you hate about competing?

    Can’t think of one actually

    The one thing you love about competing ?
    It challenges me to take myself beyond the limits you would take yourself if you weren’t competing. Theres no way you would work as hard, nor diet as hard if you didn’t have to go onstage, NO WAY !

    How has the sport assisted you in your mental and physical health?
    When I was a young girl I was always at war with my body. Hated it. Used to starve myself, then binge trying to control my weight. I was very shy and had no self-esteem. When I found Bodybulding, and in that I mean, the building and changing of your body through nutrition and exercise, then I became ENPOWERED ! To me it’s fascinating what changing diet and exercise can do to the human body and quite quickly if you know what to do. And by creating the body I want, I have found peace with my body thus giving me self-confidence and high self-esteem because I am in control of how I look, feel and my health through fitness and nutrition. And with this knowledge I have the greatest gift to pass on to others. Many of my clients have changed their career paths to become Personal Trainers themselves. I always say I have the greatest job on the Planet and “if you do what you love, you never have to work a day in your life”


    What does the future have in store for you? (upcoming competitions, events you are participating in, etc…)
    Canadian Bodybuilding Nationals Aug 18,2012 in Edmonton, Alberta.

    If you weren’t in your sport specific industry what would you be doing?
    I would be back in the Horse Industry. My first career is was an Arabian Horse Trainer.
    I looooooove horses ! I had one till Nov 2010, but will have another one again one day


    What is your favorite cheat food/meal?

    Taste of Punjab in Surrey for East Indian Food, Chicken Tikka, Spinach Naan, Chicken Korma, YUM !
