A special note about some comments made in this thread.
First off, to get to the Nationals and compete on that stage means you've worked your ass off. With that said, you are all winners and what you do inspires others to get in the sport and take that step to have the courage to step on stage and be judged by others.
As for coverage, it's getting better over the years. Everyone is starting to pitch in. Coco was a huge plus in getting results up. I can understand her frustration as the reward is not much and then some complain about what she tried to do. Her statement was said in what I believe to be frustration. I've been there myself many times but continue to keep the engine going as others chipping in keep me motivated. Take a look at what fitfanatik did in terms of video posting and getting that feeling of being there. Hats off to you for what you brought. Then the magazines have been doing coverage. The difference is mags make a lot of $$ doing this and the others don't. So in my very humble opinion, support these people who try to bring something to the table instead of dissing them.
For those that have been around for many years online, how was the coverage of a CBBF show 10 years ago? I know because I went back to look for information and had a really hard time. Look today, pics, videos, mags etc. When I find well put together videos, I do my best to promote them even if I get nothing in return. When people work selflessly to promote themselves or others I highly respect them. It benefits the sport and the CBBF in general. Take a good look at the number of competitors this year compared to others. It's a good sign.
I know some of you would love coverage like RX, MD etc and a live feed like bb.com does for the Olympia and the Arnold but this is not at the same level as those shows to be able to invest that much. Maybe it will be one day but it will take us to promote the sport in a healthy fashion and to work together rather than bash everyone and everything.
I personally felt there was more hype going into this show than last year. Look at the video Antoine put out with the feel of a challenge at the end by his bud. Look at Jerome Bravo's vid. It's entertainment and generates an interesting level of competition plus we get to know the athletes. Take Loutfi's video when he does a workout then gives comments. I strongly feel this is the future way of doing things to promote the sport and competitors.
And the last thing is, Mike Johnson won the Overall. This is 2 years in a row Mr. Canada comes from Nova Scotia and has been trained by Salim Satir. Big congrats on your win Mike and also to Salim.
Also a big congrats to Fabiola Boulanger after coming close last year and winning the overall and pro card. Renaldo Gairy, Lisa Giesbrecht and Martin Allard for earning pro cards. Hopefully they will all go on to step on a pro stage and give us more representation and material to promote bodybuilding in Canada.
