Very True Nate. I have borrowed information from all over the place. Taking different techniques from others applying some common sense to them and trying them out. No i am not revolutionary in my thinking. Could i have gotten better results listening to someone? This could've sped things up. to be honest if i had even applied what i've been telling my clients to my myself i would've had better results than i have now. I am the worst client i have. lol. In the end, no big deal, as i am happy with where i'm at and only will improve from this point on.

I personally don't really care. I went to hockey clinics, football clinics and did a lot of 1-on-1 work with various pro coaches when i was playing football. I did these things so i could improve in my sport and be the best that i could. You'll never know different or get better if you always do what you've always done.

And DK you maybe do your own personal training/prep stuff but you likely had to learn somewhere, reading articles, forums, journals etc so you're likely using borrowed knowledge just like MOST people are for everything in what they do. Few are revolutionary types and history denotes that...

Usually, the guy will train someone 'below them' and hire someone 'above them' so to speak. So usually its not weird. For example, often times, pros will train amateurs, or even national level guys. But they are getting trained by 'pro trainers'. So in that sense, it makes sense. For example, micheal phelps could have probably given me a few tips on how to swim when I was a kid, but he needs a coach to get him to winning multiple golds.

I do know some examples where I know what you mean though...I am seeing alot of that with figure girls these days. Seems everyone has a 'team' of girls they train these days, when half the ones they are taining are just as good as them - and they aren't that good, lol.

Good debate guys. Ty "Ropeman" Felder was Lee Haney's training partner. Lee Haney controlled the workouts and decided what exercises they were doing. So Haney was more of a "Shepherd" as he claimed. You can see Haney controlling the workouts with Ty in his famous Olympia Workout Video, training for 1988 Mr Olympia competition

Should amateurs demand top 3 placing in a competition if they are trained by pros? Should it be top 3 guarantee or your money back.

Delt King, some so call trainers learn from the pros, then applied what they learned to their clients. They are not original. They take credit for borrowed knowlege from the pros.

Exactly.. So they pay say $5000 to be trained... And u can pay them 15-2000.. So u are in essence getting the knowledge.. Will it be applied anmd used as the original guy?? Maybe not
And demanding top 3 is silly.. Hope u r kidding.. U can only do so much with what you got... Nothing is guaranteed

All i know is i wish i gotten a trainer earlier instead of guessing and playing around for 4 years. You think you know something then you realize your ass is in the stone age and believe me i knew alot about certain aspects but you cant know it all. Now its easy for me to help someone get in shape and gauge them on a weekly basic. You can see what works for them cause not one approach works for everyone. For ex: i used to think i had to lower my carbs gradually to get in shape for show, so i get my first diet from George its like 300-400 carbs 20min cardio and protein real low. Im like you kidding me man and what do you know it worked amazingly cause the carb sources are very important so the diet does the work. Plus my stack was half the totals from previous years. Then in final weeks you can manipulate the carbs to dry out further etc but again doesn't work for everyone. I have ian eating 350g carbs now and hes doing no cardio but my other guy is doing hrs cardio and his fats are high and carbs next to none. Shit im blabbing and btw the london winner this year you will see i have him eating 400 carbs

That would be down right stupid. They hire a coach to get them in shape, a coach cannot all of a sudden turn someone into something they arent or arent meant to be or look like. Bring them in the shape of their lives and let the rest fall in the judges hands...thats all they can do and all someone looking for a coach should expect. But telling someone they are going to place top 3 guaranteed as a trainer is unrealistic, unless its an exceptional case.

    Is this directed to me?

The obvious answer is no. If a trainer wants to guarantee that, then fine...go for it. In fact, one could easily do that, then select the one guy who you pretty much know is top 3 material, and then use it as bragging rights to say 'my clients always get top 3'...In fact, many trainers do something along these lines (in the sense that they only train good people). But no, they likely don't have a guarantee in place. Unless they charge enough to make up for the times they don't have a top 3 finish, and only take on people that likely get top 3.

Obviously there is a business model that will accomodate any claim you wish to make...But its not something anyone will usually do.

Personally, I take those workout videos with a grain of salt.........This was Haney's workout video so it would be silly for Ty to be dictating to Haney what he should be doing. I was basically showing that every pro has someone that is in their corner helping them or confidant. Ty was Haney's guy and eye's.
