I had far more hard collisions in football.

Football hits may look worse, but hockey players get hit harder, more often. More speed= more kinetic energy.
I don't have any experience playing either, but 30 years old is over the hill in football, hockey not so much..... The NFL regular season is only 16 games too.

Never knocked down, Canadian Champion for like 20 years........ Then on the other hand I've met guys with 20 fights who are hard to understand because of getting hit.
I've heard that discussed before, head size = being able to take more.... james Toney, Rampage Jackson, Chuvalo among others with big heads that can take a shot.

From a purely physics point of view it makes sense to me. Just like being in a larger/heavier vehicle in an accident. I would think that skull thickness would also play a fairly major role.

Speed, power, mass. Ring a bell?

Speed means nothing unless you factor in power and mass of the individuals coliding. Now factor in that football players are running as fast as they can towards each other. Never in hockey do you have two players looking to make contact. Therein lies one of the major differences.

Played junior b hockey and university football, i was physically BEAT down after games and practices. Hockey, id be sore but never like i was playing ball.

I actually only had one concussion in football yet 2 in hockey that were documented. Im sure i had more minor ones though.

Affects? Hard to say. I dont really have many cognitive issues that im aware of. I am a lot more sensitive to sounds and movement that i've come to realize but i also broke my neck (C2) 15 years ago as well so its difficult to say if any of my athletic head injuries are related to my experiences today.

How about yourself, you played football at a high level? How many documented concussions, and how did they affect you?

I think just about everybody that has played football has had minor ones.I got a good one in rugby from a knee that knocked me out cold and fractured my cheekbone.Minor dizzy spells for quite some time.

Sucks, Belak was a funny guy. Listen to him on various radio shows, he was jokes.

But football is definitely worse. I had several 2 recorded and dont know how many minor ones. But like Nate said, no two guys skate at each other full speed. Also theres TONS of helmet on helmet hits in football,

Power is not part of the equation it's the answer. Speed and mass=power. I understand mass is part of the equation I was just to lazy to type it out I didn't realize I was doing a math test. Do I lose marks if I don't show my work? lol
