    Default 3D TV / Laptops

    Does anyone have one ?

I ordered a XPS 17 from Dell which is 3D standard ( when needed ). I didn't want to spend $250 on two pairs of glasses as it wont be used very much in 3D - maybe just the odd movie. It's more for work , the 3D is just a bonus

I am wondering if those Real D glasses you get from the movies would work on a home 3D player ?

I guess the problem with 3d tv's is that you cant really watch it as a family or whatever because the tv's are not big enough to give everyone the same 3d experience as you all cant sit right in front of it.

The sweet spot is too small.

...or so I have heard. I don't own one.

No. The shitty movie theater glasses will not work on your laptop or any other home 3D device. The glasses are expensive because each lens is an LCD screen that uses shutter technology to create the 3D effect. The result is a much sharper and crisper 3D image than that of the movie theater.

    I work for Sony.

I know everyone will be resistant to this new 3D idea and ill admit i was too. I watched a 3D movie with the glasses at the theater and i have to say it was pretty cool. To have it at home and where the 3D glasses all the time lol i dunno sounds kinda dumb to me. Im so behind on technology didn't even no 3D laptops were available. lol

I was impressed by the basic shit you see at the movies id probobly be blown away by the real deal like you sed. At 250 for 2 pairs i think ill have to wait 20years for the price to go down to what i can afford lol.

    I didn't either , but while shopping at Dell.ca I picked this up for my wife's b-day . http://www.dell.com/ca/p/xps-l702x/pd

The thing is and I'm not sure about the tv's , is it goes from 2D to 3D which makes sence to me - So once the 3D movies start becoming bigger than you have that option.

I know my PS3 already has that , it came as a free upgrade so it's compatible.

But I hear you with the TV and wearing the glasses all the time , but I'm thinking it would have to be a 2D option in there because regular tv shows are not in 3D yet ( i don't think )
