    Default Ready to Start

Hey, I am 18 years old about 5'7 or 5'8 and about 150 pounds. I haven't checked my height or weight in a while though. I would like to start trying to get into shape, I have tried before but I want to make this one stick. I have never really been into sports or exercised so I don't know much about the subject.

I am finishing my first year of university soon, and will start my dieting then. Can anybody point me in the right direction to information that would be helpful?

Hello! Where would I go to learn which muscles are which, or how to do exercises? I have always heard technique is important.

Sometimes I take some things for granted, I didn't realize that you were this new to the gym. My best advice get a personal trainer to get you started. Outline your goals and let him/her set you up with a program.

Anyway to learn by myself? Im a poor uni student, plus I dont want to have a personal trainer see my attempts at exercising until im at least kinda fit. Kind of ashamed to be honest.

Is knowing all the muscles important? It seems like there are a thousand of them. I guess you don't get many newbies in here.

Probably 2-4, I don't really want to become a body builder to be honest. I just want to get in shape, and ran across this site.

if your only going to lift twice a week i say do a full body workout each time, concentrate on the compound lifts. I would say bench press, military press, squat and deadlift. If you want to go 3 times a week look for a good 3 day split routine, lots of info on this site on just google it. I f you are going to do 4 days a week do something like day 1- back and bi's day 2-chest and tri's day 3-shoulders and core day 4-legs
