Only in basketball you get a one hour special to announce where a player is signing...
lol no kidding...they are going to rock it next season, they got the threesome now with Bosh rounding it out.
I dont know, I think he would have been a better fit in Chicago, they would have at least had a full roster to play with. As of now Miami doesnt even have their roster complete.
But Im sorry when these guys say I dont care about the money I care about winning. These guys still take in 10+million a year. Why not take a million and just create a super team that would win the championships year after year.... O wait they are in it for the money and this is the place where he will get the most money and a decent shot at winning.
Lebron may be compared to Jordan but he has a long way to go before he comes close to the class and loyalty of Jordan.
me too.
There was a period of about 6 or 7 years in the league where the bulls got to the playoffs but didn't win a championship. Imagine if Jordan had of packed in in and went to the Knicks; Lakers or Pistons?
The thing is Jordan liked a challenge and he was/is loyal to those who gave him opportunities. Nike comes to mind here considering they paid him peanuts compared to what Adidas was offering him and look.. he;s still with Nike despite the fact he probably gets offered more money from other companies to switch.
Jordan came from an era of class. Guys today can't even spell the word class (or pronounce asked properly!)
I wish these guys would stay at one team as well, Lebron was a good fit for Cleveland I thought. Rome wasnt built in a day, these guys need to understand that.
Gretzky played in St Louis?
GSP?
****, thanks nate now im not gonna sleep thinking bout this.
I agree with the widespread feeling that Lebron should not have annoyed the fans of 4 cities.
When Gretzky was traded from Edmonton he was shattered - that was class.
The best players in sports imo:
Mayweather
Valentino Rossi (best rider ever)
Bolt (I've never seen a sprinter dominate like that at such a young age, and his competitors are studs in their own right)
when Gretzky was traded it was based purely on financial reasons. Wayne felt he deserved to be the highest paid player in the game and wanted to be paid as such and thus wouldn't sign a contract extension with the Oilers before he became an unrestricted free agent.
Pocklington knew what Wayne wanted and wanted to give him that but realistically the economics just weren't feasible for him to swing the kinf of money Wayne would have been worth on the open market.
Before all this happened though Jerry Buss, former LA owner approached Pocklington at the 86 Awards ceramony about a trade for Gretzky. Pocklington said no at the time but when Buss sold LA to McNall he told him about the offers for Wayne and McNall made several advances once again. Finally upon realizing the economic situation Pocklington was in a trade was agreed upon which included 2 players, 5 draft picked and $15MM in cash which at that time was $18.5MM CDN which was HUGE sum of money - prob paid for the entire team roster.
Anyway I'm rambling but the Gretzky trade and the Lebron deal aren't even in the same category.
I just think Lebron should have tried to finish what he started. Jordan, Magic, Bird, Thomas (even though I hate the worm), Miller, Marino (football), etc, etc, etc. These guys stayed with their teams from day 1. Some won, some didn't but I believe the the desire to win for a team which gave them an opportunity was more important than going to a team simply because it was in a position to win (where's the hard work and effort in that?)
I dont think you can name one player as the best player in sports. Even naming the best player in a genre is hard to do. For instance hockey would Gretzky have scored more than 92 goals in one season or had more than 215 pts in a season in the current NHL which is heavily favored to goal scorers?
Its a debate I think that could go on forever, only because of the change in rules or the change in equipment (the big change I can think of is golf, both balls and clubs).
Usain Bolt is the most dominant athlete today, no debate!
Roger Federer the best athlete of his generation (off his peak and still playing great)
Kobe Briant the best basketball player right now
Lebron has the tools to be the greatest ever but I am not sure about this move to Miami, it will possibly make him to play more playoff games but will change his legacy.
The truth is: live and see what will happen.
I can't understand why the Cavs owner got fined in this mess.
All this shit about a basketball player when the states is headed to one of the worst recessions and people seem to think that a basketball player changing teams is ****ing news...Keep watching TV and fill your head full of garbage..But what can you say about a country that had the ****ing loser bush's running the country for 16 years and now look at the state they are in and a basketball player makes ****ing headlines with a 1 hour speacial....OMG wake the fack up people
