I saw at least two different guys wearing those to the gym. They look like idiots. Not sure if it works or not but they do not even look like guys who know how to train properly. It might be a good product, but I'm turned off just because those two clowns were using it.
I used it for just a short time today and could feel it in my intercostals. You really have to work to breathe.
Skipped a day and put it on just doing some light work around the house, breathing in through my nose. This is quite laborious at first but after about 10 minutes breathing got closer to normal. The idea with this mask is that you actually can do less physical work and still get a training effect.Could definitely feel this in the intercostals afterward.
The idea is to add resistance to the breathing process in effect inceasing lung capacity so that when you train without it your O2 capacity has increased.
I am skeptical that restricting breathing would actually increase O2 capacity...however its the same idea as training in high elevation and then when at sea level O2 capacity has increased.
If it does actually work it would be useful only in endurance or aerobic training...I dont see any application for high intensity weight training ie bodybuilding or power lifting.

That may be trues but ribcage expansion does not equate to higher O2 efficiency. Training at elevation does not expand the ribcage but it definitely improves O2 efficiency.

How about those Chilean people at Machu Pichu?Big ribcage apparently.
I havent heard about that.
