Is Milk Ok?
Hi all, so usually at around 9-10 I down my final meal which is a protein shake. I mix the stuff with skim milk however which got me thinking. Is milk OK to put into your diet? It has a lot sugars in it, but at the same time it has some great protein value (or so it seems). I was thinking I would switch my milk to 1% and mix it with my shake to get that 'amino drip' all night long. I did look at a few articles and videos regarding the subject, but everyone seems to be pretty one sided as to whether it is good for you or bad.
Thanks!

Unless it's RAW milk from grass-fed cow I would stay away from milk.
Pasteurization kills the beneficial enzymes and bacterias, denature the whey. Beside destroying the lactase (enzyme needed to properly digest the lactose) the pasteurization also transform lactose into beta-lactose which is more irritant and insulogenic.
The homogenization tear down the fat and casein into way too smaller molecule so they pass the gut barrier without being properly digested, which create inflammation and leaky gut syndrome and some immune system response. This is why casein is so linked to cancer.
Plus 'regular' milk is treated to be whiter then normal, an oxidation process. Also beside that those cows are often feed antibiotics and hormones, they are fed with unhealthy GMO corn, which also raise the (inflammatory) Omega-6 content of the milk.

Whoa! OK definitely did not know so much about how milk reacts with casein! So, if I still wanted to have my shake before I went to bed, is there are any good aqueous products to mix the whey in? What do you guys mix with your shakes? I have tried a few of the shake recipes on here and they're pretty good but I want my body to be fueled all night long with the protein if that is possible.
Thanks!

Oh, haven't heard of that one before. I will try it soon. Is water ok to have with it too?
-
Yes water, 1 cup or 2 as you want, then you add whey, olive oil and flax!

Haha! Yeah I was thinking to myself, whey with just oil and flax would be undrinkable! Thanks!

"Some people believe that raw milk is a healthier choice and more digestible because it contains "live" enzymes and probiotics that can aid in digestion. This is not true. Enzymes that may be present in raw milk are broken down in the acidic environment of the stomach. These enzymes are not required for digestion (3) and there is no evidence to show a beneficial probiotic profile from raw milk." raw milk still illegal for sale in Canada......

Not sure what it your position on what you just posted Tex, if you actually believe this or you posted this to show how heath Canada is full of sh!t with disinformation, the only true part is that raw milk is indeed illegal for sale in Canada (but you can consume it if you are owner of the cow(s)).
First hand proof what they say is untrue is that if I drink only one glass of grocery milk I'll have a freaking war for hours in my stomach, like I dunno if I need a doctor or a priest to get me through this... only 1 cup of milk, same for yogurt, ice cream, etc... but I can drink 2L of raw milk like if it was water, no retaliation, nothing, just a happy face and a white mustache.

im not quite sure as to the truth....I know that a friend in high school was a dairy farmer and drank raw milk regularly and my dad grew up on a farm and this was common practice.....I suppose My opinion would be that you need to find a trusted dairy farmer if you want to go this route.....I have no issues consuming processed milk ( no noticeable problems) but I would give raw a try.....and the quote was from the bcdairy site.....
