I was really impressed with this guy...at 22, he has lots of time to learn and change his physique to meet the standards he has too. AS far as making a huge splash, I have to agree with you for sure.
The Canadians this year would probably rate as the top show in Canada...ever..to date and there were some incredible physiques that could compete in any amateur show...yep...even in the US.
Have not been on for months but interesting to read all the posts on the nationals. I was there about as close as u could get. The results were prety much exactly what I picked except for only a few people. The light master winner. I think I remember expecting him to get 2nd in masters and 3rd in the open class. Its totally different when ur getting compared to different people. In the audience for example when Mike the overall winner first came out I figured he would end up around 4th. Then whne he posed with the other guys he was just so much leaner in comparison. So basically he kept looking better> i expected him to be in the top 2 and so the judges went with conditioning over pure mass. Not that suprising really. At nationals they usually go for conditioning. In the overall it was very clsoe for the 3 top guys. Any of the 3 I could of seen winning. In light heavy martin allard dominated by more thne any other class, he was by far the best. Alot of people comented on the 2nd place light heavy, I had him in 3rd or 4th. For future pro contenders its clearly jerome and antoines to lose. They both just need to forget about mass and come in ripped. ANtoine looked way better at the night show then in the morning but judging is in the morning. The 2nd place heavy was really lean and could be pro in the future. The heavyweight class was the most competitive in my oppinion, just imagine if mike johnson had decided not to make weight and go super. would have been an even crazzier heavyweight class. the Womens overall winner absolutely killed it and should be a good pro from the get go. Mike johnson has really good genetics and a really good back and great conditioning and just needs another 3 yrs of good training and should be a good pro. He is only like 30 or so and I know has alot of good yrs to improve so I think down the road he could be one of the top pros in canada. Oh and a vote for best winner at nationals all time. I dunno but i liked freaky fready, I forget his full name but man i loved his physique the yr he won but he has not competed since. Mike plats I was a fan of for sure. As far as all the pro cards. I think they are just going about giving the pro cards the wrong way. We all no the their are 2 pro weight classes nezxt yr 212 and under 212. The heavyweight class should start at 212 and the winner get a pro card and the best guy under 212 get a pro card simple as that. Masters overall winner should get a pro card too I think. this elite showdown kinda waters down the competition. Id rather win a pro card by winning at nationals but Id probablhy do both shows for fun.
U nuthugger varking!! Lol!
I totally agree with Natenators assessment..no one was hating on Tony..just wanted him to come in crisp for once..and he did.. And look what happened,
And if I'm not mistaken, Tony isn't a midget guys.. He's no shorter than 5'8... I'd say 5'9. Varking verify.. He's just blesses with good insertions and such so his arms don't look long.. Looks thick and short..
Also, lookin at pics last nite.... Antoine was robbed in my opinion..they didn't want freaky mass on this nite, then antoin was bigger than johnson and wasn't like he was out of shape either.. Ans screw the "judging in the am" he was drastically different and should count for something.. Does @ the O.. And the damn show was super long. Hard to keep or hit peak I bet
Anyone know what johnson weighed and how tall he is

Thanks for your analysis Greg...was nice to meet you...anything more you can add to your commentary of the light master and welter class?
..your thoughts on Steve Marsh going from 1st to 4th in and hour...and any critique u wanna do on me as well...i can take it
Thanks for the review Greg. Here's the Freaky Freddy profile Freddy Antwi
You can't just 'screw the am judging'...! If they had to rejudged at night, it would again add about 4-5 hours to the night show. Which already goes into the middle of the night. I think its silly that they would judge twice at any show, unless the classes were so small that you actually could zip through it in an hour. It's just too bad for those that get leaner at night - but that is the name of the game. You have to peak at the right time - judging! I myself lost a show because I was soft in the am, and ripped at night. The consulation prize for me was the audience booing when I wasnt' called in first - and I didn't even know 1 person in the audience. But lesson learned, show up ripped at prejuding. Perhaps cost Antoine a pro card and overall win, much more costly than a measly trophy!
I believe mike weighed in at 224, and re-weighed a few moments later at just over 225 to get into super heavies. Had he been in the heavyweights, the entire show could have been totally different. I won't get into any more complicated explanations why, but it goes back to the judging system, ranks, etc. And the fact that the overall is judged much differently than the class. most firsts win the overall...whereas a class winner could in fact have no first place votes. Anyway, Mike re-weighing might have been the smartest move of the night! Ex. he may have had the more first place votes against renaldo, but had he been in the class itself, renaldo may have actually won the class even without the most 1st place votes. We'll never know! Although, the simple fact that mike had straight firsts against two great SHWs goes to show that there was something about him the judges really liked. So my whole hypothetical scenerio probably wouldn't have happened. I think Mike was winning no matter what.
Did they change the weight cut off again or am I mistaken? I thought the SHW was 220 and over not 225lbs.
pretty sure 225. hasnt it always been 225?
