He's just bellyaching because many here suggested Tony wouldn't be ready for the National stage conditioning wise because, well, he's proven us right in pretty much every show he has done but I am glad to see he finally figured out what was needed and did it. Great on him. No one ever denied his potential - just his willingness to bring what was needed.
For discussion sake, do we think he will have unlimited potential given his shortcomings (height) as a barrier to really excelling? There's only so much you can do with a shorter frame as have been proven in the past. Branch seems to be one bucking the trend (Priest and Ray as well to an extent as well I suppose) yet I am pretty sure most everyone would agree his physique is plain ugly. If he was 5'9 or 5'10 instead of 5'6 he just might have won an Olympia already. Thoughts?
height is definitely going to limit anyone. I am not sure how tall tony is, but I would put a limit on his potential at being say the under 212 division. I really think that beyond that body weight, his frame will start to look 'wrong'. Anyone know what he weighed for nationals?
Keep in mind, I think he looks great - I am just being critical. With that said, if Tony can continue to make improvements for the next 5 year steadily, then yes, he could be good enough to have a shot at turning pro - and if he's under 212, then he has a shot at doing decent in that division if he can continue to compete 'in shape'. I think he will need say another 20 pounds of muscle and come in a little leaner before he is a contender in the 'overall'.
Hard to say he wont be a pro within 5 years! But time will tell. He was beaten by a pro in the LHW who in many peoples option should of been Mrs
Canada but hey how can you give a guy two pro cards lol.
I think many people have gotten a lot of respect for Tony after this show. He made a huge splash and turned heads.
I can't wait to see what he can do with a whole off-season of growing for the first time in his career!
I'll keep you posted on his upcoming plans and what not.
Also like to say many people think Canadian bodybuilders can't touch the U.S bodybuilders.... well come watch the nationals. Canada is on the map
big time!!!
