Dean Brandt slams most if not all Trainers who are BODYBUILDERS & FIGURE ATHLETES….

I honestly see NOTHING wrong with what he said. Don't hate on me for saying this, but based on the words spoken, how can you argue with it? THE ODDS ARE means that "more often than not" this is true. By listing 10 bodybuilders and figure athletes that are exceptional trainers, doesn't mean he has slammed them. For every 10 good ones, there is AT LEAST 100 bad ones. Do you know how many bodybuilders I see train figure / bikini girls and turn them into dudes? Do you know how many bodybuilders out there don't know how to even get themselves into shape? How many people who competed in just 1 show are now so called 'trainers'. EVERYONE is a trainer nowadays. I don't know Dean, nor do I know if he is a good trainer or not - but what I do know is that there is at least some truth to what he says.

That said, I TOTALLY get where you're coming from. It's easy to take offence when you are part of the good ones.. But I think you have to step back and realize this is just marketting, and there is truth to it. Perhaps it was just written in not the best way - who knows. Personally I wouldn't take offence to it though. Just me though.

Steve - I see what your saying , but there is also nothing wrong with a rebutal to his comments either.....Listen if your going to throw a bold statement like that out there , be ready for comments ( Which im sure he well baited the hook before throwing out the line).
Dawn , proof is in the pudding so to speak , I was at the fall show and pretty sure team FB spoke volumes with their haul !

Nope, nothing wrong at all! I quickly read the facebook back and forths, and honestly, his responses all made sense to me. Dawn seems to have tuns of success as a trainer, and so does many of the individuals listed. But who are we kidding. Being a bodybuilder or a figure athlete doesn't make one a good trainer. The reason Dawn and / or the others are good isn't based solely on experience as a bodybuiler. It takes more than doing a few shows to become good at telling someone else how to become successful.

Many bodybuilders have the tools needed to train another bodybuilder. sure. But what seperates good trainers from bad is the ability to relate to the athletes. Keep them motivated, understand when their clients are 'holding back' information, keeping them on track, putting the time, and so on. Being a bodybuilder CERTAINLY gives an advantage in many of those aspects. But doesn't imply anything beyond that. Some of the BEST bodybuilders on the planet are in fact the worst trainers on the planet. Some of the best bodybuilders on the planet don't even know themselves why they are successful - they follow a plan given to them and pray it works. Genetics taking care of the rest.

I THINK this is all that he meant in that 1 sentence. Again, don't know him. Don't know Dawn, perhaps more to the story then I can see in this post. Perhaps more friction between a few people then what an outsider can see looking in on this. But all I am saying is that a bodybuilder isn't necessarily a good trainer. But to generalize and say a bodybuilder is a BAD trainer is not really what I see being said here.

bold statement, he will win and thank ripped freak for his accomplishment. Then of course his own training protocols.

Dean's a good guy, but he hasn't really done anything in the sport. He has run a very successful supplement store, married a super good looking wife, and landed a supplement contract with one of the top new exciting companies (pharmafreak) I see both sides of what he has said,
But to make a statement like he has done, really is a slap in the face of other trainers. He makes them sound like they are all a 1 pony race. Which is so far from the truth.

Jeff Messinger is a great trainer from the island and he is anything but old school. Does he incorporate some of those concepts, well of course, but he also does stuff with his clients that you don't always see with other trainers. And the results he has got for his clients is nothing short of amazing.

In the end, Too each their own is a easy way to say things. if you let what he says bother you then he wins, when you should take what he says and use it as fuel to better your clients and make him eat his words.

If I learned nothing else from my parents , I learned this. "Stand up for what you believe and also to stannd up for others" when a. Promotor for bcabba puts down the people who creates the large majority of the great competitors in this province that's not cool in my eyes, and in the eyes of many other trainers I have listed... God gave me a voice And I use it I don't need to gossip about him I will clearly openly say what I believe.

Its a generalization Steve...which is inherently incorrect. He may mean well but it comes across disrespectful to those who are very good and successful at what they do.
