Need legal advice or where to turn to (College giving my wife hard time)
I didn't know where to post this but since it's a canadian forum... i might as well..
It's been a nightmare for my wife.
Basically she began a registered practicing nursing program at george brown college.
She began in something like 2003 however she quit on the fly in i believe 2nd semester or something like that due to family emergency/father in failing health out of country.
She basically was going also through emotional/financial problems and decided not to head back.
Comes 2006, we get married I encourage her to finish the program.
She starts back up and wants to continue but they give her a hard time saying she's been 'gone too long', lo and behold many meetings later, they wanted her to start all over again, she does the skill tests and passes with flying colors for the courses and gets exempted.
Then she decides to go part time, great.... then GBC decide that you know what we will not offer part time any longer. Lots of students get screwed over, at that time I was like we have to sue them or something but we let it go.
She does full time but again they kind of harass her, she takes disability aid/counselling due to anxiety attacks/depression/emotional distress and they let her do full time not full load, but everything was agreed upon as OKAY after meetings with counselling, the then coordinator of the program etc...
She continues taking classes, does clinical, etc... everything going well. In fact this summer she spends lots of times preparing for next semester, studying what she needs to study all hyped.
Comes August, she checks online and her account is locked. Wth? We go to counselling and they sign the papers, then we get a letter from the 'new coordinator' saying she can no longer continue the program.
She cites courses she was failing/not doing well in, yet they are ALL courses that were PASSED and courses that were from the FIRST time she went to school (the Fs that were Fs because she just left) wth?! She says that she's been in the program 7.5 years which i dont know how the 0.5 came, and not to mention she started all over again in 2006. So of course due to all the continuing issues time DOES go on. None the less that's not 7 whatever years. Oh and those courses were passes even a B+ and hello even if its 60% thats still a pass by college policy wtf?
Next, she was NOT full time all the time.she was FORCED to go full time due to college cutting the program!
We need help. Not only is it money wasted, my wife emotionally drenched in this stuff, its also time wasted! 4 years for what!?
They say that a full time program must be completed within 4 years... WTF?! She was not even full time, but was part time.
Help :(
We need help.
We're considering going to the dean but its like they back each other up...
Edit: This just in dean said he does not wana 'deal with it'. but we are suppose to have a meeting 11am
I mean what can we do, they are screwing us around. They want my wife to just quit so they can wash their hands clean and I said HELL NO, because thats EXACTLY what they want to do and get away with it. I'm NOT letting this guy until we get some justice.
She has bloody THREE courses (that she was prepping all summer for too) to just finish AND clinical... DONE.. diploma time.... WTH!?
And apparently she WAS approved for january just recently to finish off now what? It's like a roller coaster.
I remember when I was dealing with teh full time part time ordeal talking to previous coordinator how they tried to wash their hands of THEIR poor decisions and lack of organizations and disregard for student's. They tried to play verbage with me and I debated them and they just tried to play with words. They did not even have CONSISTENT answers back and forth amongst themselves. Unbelievably unprofessional! Not to mention they have attitude and are rude. Very unfriendly. I've gone to two colleges and this place is a shit hole and has crappy staff with attitude, well its downtown who woulda thought but GOD...
Really need help dealing with these guys, can't just let them get away with this!
