What do you guys do for gear?
A log would be a fun addition on overhead day but I'm not exactly sure where to find a decent 10" or 12" log or reasonable fascimile. Axle and farmer's implements seem pretty straight forward but the log has me kind of stumped and it seems like it would be a very productive lift. |

Prolly best thing to do is to find a retired welder or a buddy that does some fabrication work as a hobby and have him whipp you up some SM equipment...
I can get you a pic of a simple log design I came up with a few years back... It uses one of those green drainge tubes you see lying around construction sites for its body but has a simple steal frame inside. It fits inside a rack and weighs around 50lbs. One of my training partners has since had a welder copy the design and it was cheap cheap cheap since most of the cost will be in material and 8-12" OD steal pipe is expensive. |

I dunno man, Paul makes a really high quality log, and the steel alone runs him over 400 bucks, you guys must get really cheap steel in Vancouver. But steel around here has gone up a lot in the last few years even, and so have Pauls prices.

Try your local guys on the Manitoba forum:
http://www.strongmanitoba.com/ Someone might be getting out of the sport or they'll probably give you similar advise that Mr Meat says. Sure would be cheaper than all steel and serves the purpose. Cost me $250 from our guy on Vancouver Island though. And I haven't been able to get a hold of him for quite awhile. Paul's price is a bit much, though I'm sure it's as solid as hell. |

I have used the equipment at Canada's strongest man, and pauls is better, i have used a lot of strongman equipment while i have been training... and you will be hard pressed to find better quality gear that lasts like pauls does. and i guarantee that a log for 150 is a shit log
