Also, for those who might think multivitamin can replace good eating habits.
Several other studies also refute the value of multivitamins. In 2006, a National Institute of Health-instituted panel examined the research evidence and concluded “most of the studies we examined do not provide strong evidence for beneficial health-related effects of supplements taken singly, in pairs, or in combinations of three or more.” In addition, a report published by the United States Department of Health and Human Services also cast doubt on the ability of multivitamins to prevent cancer, cardiovascular disease, and cardiovascular decline. Last, a very recent 2009 study stated that even in the high-risk postmenopausal women, there were no observed benefits of vitamin supplements on the risk of cancers, cardiovascular disease or mortality.

Thus, the big lesson from these studies is to read up on the evidence pertaining to nutritional supplements prior to actually consuming them, for it is plausible that these pills actually pose risks to certain groups. In addition, all doctors, whether or not they endorse multivitamin supplements, unanimously agree that vitamin and mineral supplements do not replace good eating habits, but instead should be used in conjunction with a nutritious diet. Last, be sure to read up on the particular nutrients provided by your multivitamin of choice to ensure that the micronutrient quantities are in keeping with the recommended dietary reference intake values. By keeping these key pointers in mind, it will be possible to harness the potential benefits of multivitamin supplements while staying clear of any potential risks.

I gotta buy all my supps in stores. Seems like my choices are between those Mens 1-A-Day's you can buy in every department store or going with Animal Pak.

I've been using Animal Pak for 6 months and feel better on them than those 1-A-Day's.

It's really expensive though (close to $70 with tax) and I barely have any money as it is.

In all faireness Andre, you can`t possibly say that mulit is all the viamins he will need to be taking. I mean taking 150mg of a water soluble vit c a day is not enough vit. c for a bodybuilder. It`s also low dosed in vit E, magnesium and zinc. Let`s be fair and not call this a 4 month supply. That sounds very misleading to me telling the guy he he`s good to go for 4 months.

hmmm I think that something to look into...a bodybuilding specific multivitamin.

What would you guys specifically look for in a multi?

That's very expensive! We are selling them for 39.99 right now. Free shipping over 99 bucks...might be a good time to stock up. From what I hear Animal products will be going up in price in the near future.

Why you guys are willing to buy MULTIVITAMINS from supplement companies, who are well known to produce and sell marketing shit, I will never understand.

Buy from a reputable, regulated company such as Bayer or Jamiesons. Stay away from supplement companies.

I`d say forget the multi idea. Just sell vit c, b complexes, magnesium, zinc for cheap. Maybe some beta carotene. Another thing I`ve always said but never gotten an anwer to concerning multi`s is the concept of vit E in it. When you buy it seperately, it`s in a gel cap. My gut tells me this is much better than the vit E you get in powdered cap or tablet.

I just think multi`s suck because you don`t get to take elevated levels of vit C 3 times a day, then there`s the magnesium and zinc problem. I`d seriously take this pre bed like the concept of ZMA. 400mg of magnesium and 30 mg of zinc, in chelated form preferably. Check your mulit and tell me how much of these minerals your getting... For those reasons alone, why would you waste your money on the multi`s? Plus they`re way more expensive than doing what I suggested. Oh yeah taking Animal pack is so cool as the advertising makes it appear...

Believe it or not, our bodies need more than just magnesium, zinc and vitC.

Add some b complex and what are we missing here? Calcium, beta carotene? Dosen`t that pretty much sum up what`s in a multi?

In the case of multivits I prefer not to skimp out. Not only is it a staple to a body builder but general health as well. Based on that I dont mind paying a bit extra for a good QUALITY multi.

Check out this artical http://www.docstoc.com/docs/405307/Multivitamin-Guide A good read check it out.

A well done study on the top 510 multis on the market. Bases the quality of the multi on things like Completness, Potency, Bioavailability, etc.

Examples of stuff used here in Canada
GNC mega men score 21.1% and ranked 255
Nu-Life score 38.6 % and ranked 166

Currently using Controlled labs Orange Triad. Very Complete plus joint and immune support.
