No, you're not doing keto if you think you can't have bacon and cheese. Maybe 'Palumbo's' diet where he took keto and did his own twist on it, you can't have bacon and cheese, but the original CKD, which I've done for the majority of the last six years (minus this year), it is fine.

I had blt with mayo on 1 slice of low carb bread every morning, and did just fine.

I'm on the Dr.Mauro dipasquale diet..Keto Diet..
Here is what i eat..Becon,only with 1 gram of carb in it,you have to look out for maple sugar added to some.Eggs are fine, block cheese is best, but for me i love cheese Curds.Hot Salami,Salad oils with low carb count 1 gram per 15ml.Nuts you need to look out for ones with high carbs counts, but raw nuts are best or no flavored nuts.Protein Powder only Isolate since the ones i get only have 0.5 or 1 gram of carbs per scoop. Also if you have to high Protein on this diet the protein with convert to carbs, not a good thing to happen since your bodyweight will not change.
BTW my favorite diet food is McDonald's becon, cheese burgers with a Large Coke Zero. The cheese from the burger is 2.5 grams of carbs per slice and i can have up to 30gram of carbs in a day with my diet, but if its Atkin it only 20 grams of carb per day.

Thank you.

And you sound identical to me. When in a hurry, or on my way somewhere it was bacon cheeseburger and a double cheese burger with a diet coke. (no coke zero at the time) Under $5, can't beat that.
Was perfect breakdown for my meal, roughly 30-40g protein 30-40g fat.
Or BK two jr whoppers with cheese and bacon.
It's like cheating, but it's a part of the diet.

try getting into competition shape on bacon and cheese and let's see how you do.

Bacon is part of the atkins diet to. so are cheeseburgers...

Ditto...Atkins or Dipasquale's diet may be fine for the average person to lose a bit of weight but you arent even close to being in shape for BB. Not to mention it is extremely unhealthy...too much saturated fats, nitrites, etc not what you want if you are concerned with optimum performance.

Poor quality and no where near competition shape, but this is me 3 years ago training 3 days a week and no cardio.
And I know guys who have competed, and looked phenominal.

Yes bacon is apart of atkins, you think CKD, atkins, Palumbo aren't all related?
Palumbo didn't invent the wheel, he took a diet that was decades old and changed a couple things in it.

Again I reiterate...Atkins or Dipasquale's diet may be fine for the average person to lose a bit of weight and get into shape...but not for BB competition.
As well...it is extremely unhealthy...too much fat overall, too much saturated fats, nitrites, etc not what you want if you are concerned with optimum performance.
It may be a keto diet yes and there are many variations as you say. No Dave P did not invent the keto diet...he created his own version as I do with my clients. These diets are for athletes striving for peak performance...not just wanting to get into shape....HUGE difference!
You look great and I commend you on that...however you are far from competition lean.

Fair enough.
Though, like I said, I've seen people compete doing that type of CKD.
But I do agree, if I was going to aim for competition shape, I would do a Palumbo type diet compared to the old CKD which I've done.

If done right a low carb diet is no more unhealthy than any other diet (meaning, take a multi, fish oils, and eat a lot of green and leafy veggies with every meal).
And you can definitely get shredded on low carb, why wouldn't you be able to? The leanest I've been was on a low carb diet, and that wasn't even on a calorie deficit, I was eating tons of fatty meat and fish, and my carbs ups (not a cheat day, carb ups have a purpose) had things like ice cream and pies in it lol.
And you're talking about being performance ready and in contest shape in the same sentence? You won't be 'performance ready' at 4-5% bodyfat. The body's most anabolic at 10-15% bodyfat for the average male.

The bad stigma about low carb is people don't do them right, and don't do them long enough for their body to become 'fat adapted' into burning fats exclusively for fuel. On a properly executed low carb diet, the fat will melt off with little effort, your strength will continue to climb, and your endurance will most likely increase, just as a result of your body burning fats for fuel, which it does extremely well.

I don't have links, but have read studies where atkins type diet is not as 'unhealthy' as many want to think. Yes, some levels may be 'slightly' elevated, but not much worse than any other diet. On top of that, studies were done on average people doing moderate exercise.
