I am seeing more and more people wearing flip-flops to the gym. I remember a time were you needed to wear proper gym attire. How can someone seriously have a good workout in flip-flops.

Look at the size of them or the intensity of their workout and you've answered your question...

Or their excercise selection. Chances are they arn't doing anything besides chest, shoulders and arms with the occasional lat pulldown thrown in.

Thongs are for a beautiful womens bottom ( Check out the ass thread )

I say to each there own. But I agree train serious or not at all.

I confess i have worn Keen sandals on chest, shoulders, and arm days.

I have never worn flip flops and never anything but a good cross trainer on leg and back days. I even prefer a work boot on days I squat, heavy leg presses or deads for added support

I don't think you need proper attire to workout with a swiss ball and exercise bands

I'm suprised that no one has pointed out that Arnold and the boys used to train in bare feet back in the day...

I don't likw the idea of flip flops, cause I'd hate to drop a plate on my foot, but I have forgotten my runners in the past and had to wear my sandles.

On chest or shoulders day, i don't think it would be that bad. It's your feet.

Bare feet are very functional, flip-flops have no function, they serve no purpose. I can maybe see someone wearing sport style sandals but even still. If you're serious about the gym you should have gym shoes and you should wear them at the gym.

Absolutely wear gym shoe's. Nothing breaks the fall of a 45 plate on your foot like a good pair of runners! :D

AMEN! Too many faggy looking guys wearing flip flops, capri shorts (ultra gay) and poped up collar shirts. We are in fact living in the mega era of douch bag looking ferries.

Maybe we should be wearing steel toes at the gym.Runners certainly won't save you from a 45.One time the biggest guy at the gym was using the leg press, you know how they sometimes squeeze one more each side and somebody holds it while he reps? They left it like that. This was at the old Gold's in Calgary that Roberta Segar owned, she had this female competitor visiting, with a dynamite body and beautiful face.So I go to remove a few plates, and I couldn't help myself at having another look at her, touch the plate...drops just between my feet and bangs my shins pretty good.Damned lucky!Sore for weeks.

Last I heard her name it was in the papers concerning the death of her brother,a drifter with mental health issues.Did you know Grant McReynolds passed away 1 year ago Friday?

Holy crap! I can't believe it's been a year already. Wow...time really fly's these days. Sad loss to the community. Were you at his funeral? I probably saw you there...or know you for that matter.

BTW, let me guess...it was TJ doing the leg presses?
