A long-awaited agreement between the Ultimate Fighting Championship and the man considered the world's best mixed martial arts fighter, Fedor Emelianenko, is expected to be announced by UFC President Dana White on Friday, a source with information about the negotiations told The Times today.

The source, who asked not to be identified because he's not authorized to speak publicly about the dealings, called negotiations between the UFC and Fedor "very civil" just days after Fedor's scheduled Affliction Trilogy fight Saturday against Josh Barnett was canceled.

Affliction wound up folding its MMA promotion activities and announced an apparel deal to sponsor UFC.

Now, Fedor, who has previously fought in organizations including PRIDE Fighting Championships in Japan, Bodog Fight and Affliction, is crossing over to the world's most successful MMA fighting organization, as well.

With a 30-1 record that includes victories over former UFC heavyweight champions Tim Sylvia, Andrei Arlovski and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Emelianenko would likely get an immediate shot at reigning UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar.

The source, who is not affiliated with the UFC, said officials were discussing details on the public announcement of the deal, which in the past has been complicated by Emelianenko's resistance to accept UFC's standard six-fight contract and his unwillingness to surrender some merchandising and marketing revenues.

But this month White said he was optimistic he could bring Emelianenko aboard, and his confidence was well-placed. The UFC declined to elaborate on Friday's scheduled announcement.

Fedor isn't even human. He's a Decepticon. I can't even imagine Fedor/Lesnar. He's probably the only guy in the world who isn't even a little afraid of Lesnar.

I can't wait till he's the UFC champ. I think Frank Mir would be a better match up against Fedor than Brock. He's all rounded.

I wonder what Brock's game plan would be. Survive maybe?

Lesnar will destroy him via ground and pound in 2 rounds or less.

No one out there will beat up Brock... he might loose via sub or choke... but I am 1000% certain he will not be beat up... Fedor is super fighter, on the other hand Brock will come in to the octagon about 50lbs heavier and with superior wrestling skills... It could be the most watched MMA fight in history...

Ya people will see how good Fedor is on in the UFC,as long as he get use to the cage.In all the other federation they would break up the fight if it went to the ropes, not like that once you are against the cage.

Fedor's camp came out today and said its not gonna happen. Being part of M1 and Fedor signing up with EA sports, I don't see him in the UFC for a while.

Don't forget, Fedor is also a Sambo Champion many times over. He doesn't have just one skill. He hasn't lost a match in the last 8 years for a reason. And his 1 loss was because of a cut, not because he sumbitted or got ko'd.

Nope, I just think all this time Dana doesn't want Fedor to come in the UFC and beat the undisputed champion then walk away with the belt, in the process making the UFC HW division look mediocre like it always has been.

Fedor Emelianenko said on Wednesday that he does not intend to sign a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship unless the UFC agrees to promote fights jointly with Emelianenko's promoter, M-1 Global. Since then, several Web sites have reported that Emelianenko had turned down a six-fight contract with the UFC worth $30 million.

FanHouse has learned from a source close to the negotiations, who wished to remain anonymous, that the UFC offered Emelianenko a three-fight contract with a guarantee of less than $2 million per fight.

The source did confirm that Emelianenko was offered an immediate title shot against current UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.

As Jonathan Snowden, the author of 'Total MMA: Inside Ultimate Fighting,' who also spoke to someone with knowledge of the negotiations, pointed out, it is possible that Emelianenko could make up to or even more than $30 million during his UFC run, but that amount wasn't guaranteed up front.

"The number is based on Zuffa's projections of what Fedor's take of the PPV money would be, and the numbers they are projecting are based on selling a ton of PPV's. The actual guarantee for Fedor is much more modest. It's true that if business stays at record levels Fedor could walk away with $30 million. But that is no guarantee."

If the pay-per-views in which Emelianenko main events do as well as, say, UFC 100, which reportedly generated approximately 1.5 million PPV buys, he could conceivably make that much, if not more once the PPV escalators kick in.

Vadim Finkelstein, Emelianenko's manager and M-1 Global's CEO, replied "no" when Sherdog asked if a deal could be struck with the UFC without M-1 co-promoting the event.

The serious cash is a co-promotion with UFC!

Fedor is gone to Strikeforce to co-promote with RDSC! Co-promo means BIG bucks!!! PPV is paying out HUGE $$$$$ to the UFC The americans love UFC!

A few things bother me about this whole thing. Fedor claims UFC never offered him the type of money being released in the press or he would have signed with them at those numbers. UFC's Dana white should not have to co-promote with M1 period. They are doing just fine without him anyways.

That being said if the UFC wants to be the best Dana needs to get off his ass and his wallet and sign a confidential deal with Fedor. And if Fedor thinks he is the best in the world he would prove it to his fans by signing a deal for an undisclosed amount of money to come to the UFC without his ****ing gay managers trying to contol his money. Do it for a large undisclosed amount vs sharing profits. That just opens the door for every fighter to try and control the buisness and it just won't work for anyone. The fans lose, the fighters lose, the promoter loses, jut stupid,no more fights to watch.

Anyways, I think there are three heavyweights right now in the UFC that can take the belt from Brock.

#1 contender= Shane Carwin....263 lbs 6'3" an all american wrestler who can take a shot and has hands of stone. Brock is not bigger, his wrestling will be matched and Shane Carwin Definitely is the more natural striker as you saw his last fight taking a brutal KO punch from Ganzzaga and recovering within a minute to brutaly KO ganzaga with a punishing blow of his own that ruined Gonzaga.

#2 Randy Coture who man handled brock until he caught that hamhock in the back temple in his fight. Believe me when Mr. America comes out in the press when he finds out Fedor might fight in the UFC against Brock and says that Fedor is his fight and he will take down brock to get that fight......we'll we all know if Randy wants something and is pissed off enough to say it in the media, Randy will get what he wants.

#3 Mirko Cro Cop, I know his last couple of bouts in the UFC have been mediocre.... but if you have followed this mans carreer you'll know there is a reason Dana white has chased this legened. When he is on point and angry he is one of the most ruthless strikers in the game. He destoyed Wandelai silva and won the last pride grand pix, went the distance with Fedor and lost by desicion, TKO'd bob sap 6'3" 330 lbs with a straight left and has had some of the most devistating KO's in MMA. This guy built an octogon in his house and was on the Croatian special forces. If he can focus on the title it will be interesting.

End Note, UFC dosen't need Fedor and Fedor dosen't need the UFC......but they owe it to the world to unite their greatness and civility. Otherwise both sides look like money hungry douche bags.

Yeah Fedor has signed a 3 fight contract with Strikeforce not long ago. It should be interesting nonetheless, his next opponent is the undefeated 260 pound heavy handed brawler Brett Rogers. (10 wins, 0 losses) Fedor and Rogers in their previous fight, fought the same opponent (Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski), they both managed to knock out Arlovski, but the difference was it only took Rogers 22 seconds to do that as opposed to Fedor which took a few minutes, err I think around the 3 or 4 minute mark.

Should be a good fight tho! Expect to see Fedor choke him out or grab one of Roger's limbs
