Nissan is going to be selling it's first full electric cars on the market this year in Japan and the US. This car can go 160kms on 1 charge. All major car companies are aiming to be selling full electric cars by 2012.

This means if you buy a new car now, it'll be worth next to nothing when you try to sell it after the electric cars hit the market. For city life, there is nothing better. A lot less moving parts means a lot less repairs. They are a little more expensive but will pay for themselves over time.

So if you want a new car, lease because within 2.5-3 years, the world of driving will change dramatically. Gas will become very cheap again but your car will be worth nothing. Best thing to do is to buy a decent second hand car that will last you the next 3-4 years.

If you need to drive long distances, a hybrid will be your best option. Part electric, part gas which when you are running on gas will also recharge your battery. But you have a motor which means more moving parts and more repairs. Gosh, will be great to not have to get your timing belt changed, etc...

But then will come in the government to spoil things. If no one is buying gas, they will lose a lot of money on the taxes they put on gas. So they'll have to tax something else. Be ready for that.

I'm asssuming the cost of fuel would be decreasing them also. An attempt by the oil industry to save customers.

It look goods, but won't work.I worked at a car rental and the amount of battery they put in them, plus there not cheap to replace, and try to boost your car,the battery's are under the back set,in the caddy DTS.

The new car batteries will be able to be recharged about 15,000 times before replacement.

So if you would charge your battery once a day, that means the battery should be good for about 41 years :D

They'll probably have a boost connection that is easily accessible in the new cars as they are perfecting them now. Remember, you have no engine in the way anymore so lots of new space in there to put things like a boosting cable. I'm really exited about this news.

I wonder what will happen with the Middle East after these are mainstream and the general population does the switchover.

Watch this documentary on electric vehicles, gm, ford, chrysler, toyota were leasing these babies in the early 90's in california only because california had a new 0 emission law coming into effect for cars to be legally sold. The white house led a lawsuit against california challenging their "law", the car manufactures and oil companies joined the lawsuit. There were major cover ups, and conspiracies. It is a great watch:

Hell i thought that when whats his name invented the wheel! LOL.

Electric cars have been around forever, its not a new concept. I just don't see there being the motivation for this to become mainstream. First there is way too much money involved with the oil industry. Globaly speaking we aren't running out of oil, we're just haveing a harder time getting to it, second there's a shitload of money to be made with war, two of the largest money machines in America..

Hey i hope i'm wrong, but i don't think i am.

Did anyone watch the documentary that I posted in this thread? If so what did you think? Personally, after seeing what the scum-bags did, I have no sympathy for their current financial crisis.

GM also hired back the former CEO who was quoted as saying that it didn't matter what the price of oil was and that people will still drive their SUV's and trucks, therefore we are not focusing on smaller vehicles....
