Is this caused by low sodium levels or potassium? I had the most awful abdominal cramp today and now my abs actually physically hurt. Not to mention I'm paranoid to even bend down to tie my shoe laces so that it won't happen again.
Should I just drink water + salt? Too much salt won't cause them also, right?

well I don't know what it is but I've been drinking salt today. I also went to walmart and bought some calcium/mg vitamins, just in case it's that. I don't drink milk/eat cheese anymore so I don't really know.

had it when I first started my dieting. It's the lack of sodium. Add salt and high sodium (low cal/carb) condiments like hot sauce, dijon, mustard, etc to everything that you can. It will help.
Try some taurine as well.

yeah I do think it's probably that. Now that I think about it I don't really take much sodium at all.
Breakfast has next to nothing (oatmeal, egg whites, whey), I haven't been adding any salt to any of my cooked meals. Only thing is some mustard on tuna burgers/tuna.
gonna definetely up the salt.

i use to get cramps like you, it was there one day and gone the next and back again, tried adding sodium and more water, gatorade, etc. I started seeing a chiropractor for overall health and he asked if i ever got cramps in this one side of my abs, well we figured it was a subluxation of this part of my spine that caused the unbearable cramps and after a few adjustments my cramps were gone.I would see a chiro bro, you shouldnt be paranoid to bend down and tie your shoes

chiros are despicable lowlives so I'd like to avoid them :)
I'm pretty sure its just electrolyte imbalance. They only come around when I'm working out and sweating a lot. They don't happen any other time

Dear god I just noticed my multi has NO calcium....so I've been without calcium for many months. Only thing I eat with some is almonds...and maybe get 20% daily recommended.

Try calcium fortified OJ?
Anyway, the basics are sodium, potassium and maybe taurine for muscle cramps. Im thinking these were ab cramps, and not intestinal? VERY different.

your ignorant if you think a chiro are lowlifes. I can't tell you how many times a chiro has kept me training thanks to ART.

What do you do when you have injuries and strains? Oh wait, you probably don't train hard enough to have those...

really? i saw one few years ago until my injuries healed and havent seen one for years, now with another injury, i decided to go back and its been helping out alot. it was mostly a lower back injury, but it would cause cramps when i reached around to wipe my butt my lat would cramp up, we noticed this when we did some flexibility tests, it wasnt the reason why i went to him in the first place, but its a bonus now that i can wipe my ass without my lat cramping up lol. thanks for reading my post

i agree with the calcuim and i also had bad abdominal cramping b4 my comp when i was fairly lean. I was told by my coach a fellow CBB vet to try potasium pills and i got some from shoppers and it really helped. While dieting my potasium was low becuase bananas really were bad carbs to my body so these pills reduced the cramping.
