Is there any way I can walk into a clinic get a blood test done and get testosterone prescribed if my natural test level is low. Can my family doctor do this? I've heard about clinics specialized in this domain but I do not think it exists in my region of Ottawa.

your family doc will refer you to an endocrinologist, and you will go from there

Just go to your family doc. They will order a blood panel and if you are low they should Rx it to you.
They may book a future apt with an endocrinologist.

I received my script at a drop in clinic. No specialist, just a blood test.

I would advice against going to your family doctor for this...Do a google search for an andropause clinic in our area. Then call them and make an appointment. They will do the correct tests and prescribe you everything you need to bring you back into range.

But be prepared to pay...the one in Vancouver is $400 for a consultation. You can't get into an endocrinologist without a referral and depending on your age it might just be a waste of time. My test is not coming back and I told the doc I'm fine with the shots.

In Ontario it is fully covered...my dad had gone to his family doctor she gave him androgel and thats it. I told him to goto this andropause clinic and she told him everything she will put him on is 100% covered by OHIP.
