Does anyone still do these?

I can rep 4 out with about 250lbs then move to dumbell presses. But I have yet to see another person in my gym do a behind the neck press. Ya, they say it's bad for the rotator cuff. Never had an injury though.

I stopped doing them many years ago. Found I can get the same results with seated dumbell presses and prefer the natural range the dumbells allow. But did do them for at least 10 years before cutting them out completely. 250 for reps? That`s some solid work there MP!

If I had the shoulders of the guy in your avy (if it's you), I could probably do that much too.

But you got to really cut your hair. That's so 80's :D

Nice!!! Do you do them as your first exercise or later? I start off with those, move to dumbells and then hammer strength machines to finish off with side laterals and shrugs. It's too bad we don't train at the same gym. You'd inspire me to push harder to get to 10.

i start with behind the head also, 12 reps of 185 then i do regular shoulder press's of 220 for sets of 9.. thats just to get me warmed up, i dont like going too heavy on either of those exercises ive had some bad injuries in the past while doing dumbell press's

I did this with 205 without anyone around one day,and to lift it off by yourself isn't a good thing,so i hurt my Tendon in my shoulder, never will i again.I would do it on a smith machine,or Hammer strenght,or Seated Dumbell Press.

I love em on the smith machine, usally do them right after seated DB presses. How far does everyone bring the bar down? I bring it down to right below my ear level never an lower.

I do them after side raises. Generally, I find that if I train front delts first (pressing movements) I can't feel my side delts afterward. Because of this I hit side first then alternate either front or rear next.

I just started doing these again,I have not done any since a serious shoulder separation suffered skiing about a dozen years ago.Very creaky the first time.I've got my cage rigged up with straps to suspend the weight at exactly the right height,no problems getting the weight into place,no lower than the ears.Feels ok,sticking with 15-20 for awhile. Not feeling like Scott Wilson just yet.:D
