Do you need to pre-boil the potatoes before you fry em up in a pan? Ive read you can do it both ways, but looking for the easier/better way to do it.

If you want to make hash browns with like 1.5cm cubes then you could get away without pre boiling if your pan is on low but boiling first is always wayy faster and easier. They will take a while just frying from raw.. Just boil up a huge pot and put them in your fridge and pull them out when needed!

Another tip, if you are boiling FOR pan frying, boil the potatoes el dente (a little hard/crunchy on the inside) that way when you fry them they don't totally break down.. that's only if you are a perfectionist though :p

You can also poke holes into the potatoes with a fork and put them in the microwave for 5 minutes or so.

yea ~10min for small cubes like 1.5cm

the nuker works too but you gotta really watch it or your 'tater will get fried to bits and not hold up at all to frying.. but then again if you dont care and just want a 'tater then go for it. :)

When I still ate potatoes, I used to poke one with a fork and microwave it for 2 mins. Any longer and it'd get mushy.

Then I'd slice them about 0.5cm thin and lay them in an oiled non-stick pan. Fry each side crispy and seasoned with salt/spice. Very tasty for breakfast.
